Rubbish Skip
I am just thinking about ordering a skip again. I know they are expensive these days because of the tipping costs, but last time a did a good deal because I was filling it with metal.
I should be able to do the same again, but as last time I will have to have it placed in the street. I know it has top be marked at night etc, but as it's a cul-de-sac there isn't really a problem. My big problem last time, was coming home to find someone had thrown a couple of bedside cabinets and a very large living room type cabinet in there. It caused much amusement as I threw them out onto the road, and one of the neighbours opposite threatened to call the police! 9someone down the other end of the street had a similar problem this year)
I told them to go ahead, as it was rubbish dumped by one of the neighbours and was nothing to do with me. I feel that even if I order one for general waste, I shouldn't be subsidising the rest of the street to dispose of their rubbish.
What do you reckon about throwing their rubbish back out of the skip?
Surely I cant be held responsible for other peoples rubbish!
I'm sure it will happen again.

It will - it is the famous rubbish fairy. Never had a skip yet which didn't acquire extra items overnight!

Re: Rubbish Skip
You can hire closed skips in many parts of the country, not sure about This Planet though . Check with your local skip hire companies.

Re: Rubbish Skip
imo it's really scummy to dump rubbish in someone else's skip without paying for the privilege. I always give the 'owner' a fiver (or bottle of wine) for it............

You could set up a webcam, so you've got the proof to show who used your skip, and then dump the rubbish on their lawn...

I got very annoyed last time, the skip was even marked as "Metal Only". So even if they offered me a fiver I would of had to say no.
I never dump rubbish in other peoples skips, you can sometimes see my legs sticking out as I'm trying to recover that elusive item from the bottom though.

Re: Rubbish Skip
I'd order one from the council. They have to be shared by 6 householders who sign an agreement through one neighbour who organises it.Usually works out well. And it's FREE.

Re: Rubbish Skip
There's a skip just down the road from me next to a house that's being renovated, but the good thing about it is that it has a *locking* lid so other people can't dump their rubbish in it!

I dont think we have that option here, I live in South Wales and I understand all the local rubbish goes to Taunton to be dumped!
I'm sure the local skip guy said he has to do the same, unless it's builders rubbish and he can find someone who has a licence and planning permission to accept rubble.
I had a problem a few years ago with fibreglass, the local refuse station refused to take it and said it would have to go to a proper waste disposal facility costing me an arm and a leg. I asked my friendly scrapyard owner and he said most of them put the fibreglass inside a car before it goes into the crusher.
I just waited until bonfire night

Thats what I was thinking.
If a neighbour phoned the council because I had thrown someone elses rubbish out of my skip. I reckon they could probably fine me for illegal dumping.
