Don't drink the water
I went to Ibiza when I was 18 with some friends...boy drinking local water is not a good idea!

Re: Travelling
go travelling around the middle east instead, I can give you the details of a great place in Sinai that only costs £6 a night for a room with on-suite and air-con, all spotlessly clean.

Re: Travelling
Depends on how long you want to go, but the price of a ticket to Bangkok isn't high considering how cheap vacationing in Thailand is.

Re: Travelling
Check out www.ryanair.com and bag yourself a bargain return flight to somewhere in Europe.
If you want to make it even cheaper go for hostels instead of hotels.

While your airfare to Spain on Ryanscare might be cheap, the cost of living in Europe is relativly high, so your food and accomodation will be in the region of about £40 a day.
If you do this in places like Thailand, Indonisia (say Lombok) then you can get accomodation for £3 a night and meals for another £3. Much better value.
An air fare that far is also not much more and culturally the experience is far richer (IMHO).

For Spain/Spanish islands, as mentioned, don't drink the water bottled water is cheap and plentiful, try to avoid dairy products as most of them are foul tasting, e.g. milk, butter, cheese etc, which means you probably won't get a decent cup of tea or coffee. Wear decent sunblock, or you'll end up toasted like I was, even in November, if you're going somewhere like Lanzarote, don't wear anything white on the beach, there's volcanic ash in the sand which'll turn clothes black and it's almost impossible to wash out. Don't try and order beer you're used to in pubs or bars as it'll probably be imported and cost you a lot more, just ask for a large (or small) beer, if you drink spirits your eyes will probably light up when it looks like they fill half the glass with some! However, they always fill it up with ice first and you end up with a normal measure mostly and they still charge you around 4 euro's for it. Lanzarote is also very windy as it get's the winds coming over from the Sahara or something which means you'll still burn to a crisp despite being cold. The sea around the the Canaries is COLD, it's the Atlantic so don't expect it to be any warmer than it is off the coast of the UK, also, none of the pools (for some reason) are heated and are generally FREEZING, if you do however, end up in Lanzarote, go to "The Shamrock" in Costa Teguise on a Thursday night ... great craic!

I'd agree with that (and you might want to avoid Iraq and the Ukraine at the mo )

You can find real travel advice here:

Click on 'Travel Advice by Country' and off you go.
You've not mentioned how you want to travel and how long you want to be gone. I'd recommend taking a bike - no honestly! Yonks ago Mrs A and I were looking for a cheap holiday so we spent a week cycling and camping in Ireland. It was hard work (and cold) but we enjoyed it and have since been cycletouring in the Netherlands (flaaat!), France, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania (3x), Bulgaria, E. Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovenia (v. beautiful) and Portugal (man, that was hot!). It's a great way to meet people and understand their way of life.
