What is it with moms and christmas decorations?
No offence to any one here, I'm just wondering.
Why do most mothers go overboard with christmas decorations?
My mom had loads in the loft, and she has already bought about 6 more sets of lights, what's the big deal??
Your thoughts please, no flaming me!

Re: What is it with moms and christmas decorations?
I love xmas and still do all the lights if your mum still has the xmas spirit then they house will to her feel festive and happy.
Its a busy time for mums with all the extra cooking for the family but its a time they know all the family will be together as long se she keeps it happy and festive. None likes to return to a dull room...
MPO only and yes my decorations are coming out of the loft but this time I need help with a fractured wrist in plaster I am limited on what I can do.

I'm having to help my mom since she had her hip replaced, and she has to use a walking stick around the house (she can walk without anything soon, hopefully).

Its what youngsters are brought up like some say mum some mom and there are those who say mam but all are correct this isn't because they come from any other country its more what the mother is happy with as we are the ones who teach the name at an early age..

Re: What is it with moms and christmas decorations?
My mum and dad say 'Mam', I say 'Mum' - maybe the next generation could say 'Mom'?? Or 'Mem' or 'Mim'. Unlikely though.
Back on topic though - my mum's not so crazy at decorations, it's just the tidying up. The house has to be totally totally clean. Drives me up the wall!

Thankfully my mother has a bit of taste and doesn't end up making my parents house look like a cheap imitation of a Las Vegas casino.

It is because they are like magpies, they just love shiny and bright things like fairy lights and baubles.
We go typically american at this house with our decorations (National Lampoon isn't an exageration as there are loads like that). The chore of doing really it all does kill any xmas spirit. To my mum, all she wants is her family around her, that is her xmas spirit.
