Exclamation Image search Help

Ok, i'm banging my head against a wall here, I've been requested to help produce some materials for children with learning difficulties. These materials being A4 or A3 poster for the classroom walls for the maths lessons. Now the teacher has requested nothing special but wants colourful images pertaining to maths that will help the kids learn things like:
Multiplication (I've found colour images of the 1-12 times tables but am open to new sources)
Fractions,
Percentages,
Area
Volume
and any other shapes and images that can be used for posters and displays for the maths class.
obviously I don't know any good educational resource sites for this sort of thing and I'm hoping that some of the members here that work within the educational system may have a few favourite links.
(Before anyone mentions google it's not easy to image search for mathematical things from behind a very restrictive firewall and porn filter lol.)

Yep, they want the free stuff, to be honest if they weren't so lazy they could probably get a lot of free posters from Governmental Education departments but they seem to think that we have loads of time on our hands to find these images for them

I've just tried typing "clip art free maths" into Google and come up with quite a few free links. You could replace the word maths with percentages, area, time, money etc and see what that produces.

Here's my link. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...art+free+maths

Hope this helps.

I can ask where the maths department gets their very good posters if you like.I suspect that they may well get them through either the county's official central supplies service or as a freebies for purchase of text books.

I also suspect that if it is done online it will either be to buy or be copyrighted.

Even better I will talk to my friend of 20 years who works in the special needs department.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but I've a killer headache and I must get some sleep.

That's ok Coggy Any help you can give would be appreciated, I'm suprised that there isn't a centralised site that teachers can access for this sort of thing. I knew this request was going to be a pain but I didn't actually think it would be as difficult as this to find good quality images for educational uses. Maths doesn't seem to be a popular theme for image creation

I'm sorry Paul but I woke with a severe migraine attack this morning so I didn't go into work today.I've only started to feel better in the last couple of hours.I will ask tomorrow.

Actually this is not the first time I've heard this complaint about resources online especially Maths ones.I as a parent often have complained at the lack of resources. There is plenty of stuff for parents to buy at places like Smiths but nothing much free online.

The image search is useless but you MIGHT have more luck with a usual Google search if you type in Educational resources for Special Needs. You may just find a nugget in among the various link sites.

I do however have a suggestion. If you are a signed up researcher at H2G2 which is the online modern version of Douglas Adams Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe.Even if you are NOT a researcher I recommend you becoming one because
it has an excellent set of guide pages and if you can't find what you want asking in the Ask H2G2 conversation page will give you access to over 300,000 researchers who will be able to answer your question much better.I'm positive if you ask there you WILL get an answer.I've never ever been let down myself.

Incog.

Re: Image search Help

I think that LEAs do have their own centralised resource stores with materials and equipment for use in their own schools. Unfortunately, they tend to be the kind where you have to physically go to the place to get stuff.

They do.They even have their own catalogues but you have to be a bonefide teacher working in a recognised educational establishment to be able to order anything. They even deliver. and nothing is free.

Is it any wonder that education in this country is the way it is?
