Stumbled across this in the local rag tonight and thought it may be of use to others here.
As we all know the loss of loved can be a traumatic time and there is nothing worse than weeks/months/years later receiving letters addressed to the deceased which are nothing more than the postal version of spam.
Well an organisation has now started to deal with this.
For those that are affected take a look

Whether we like it or not, we are all on many databases, and from time to time get annoyed at receiving unwanted direct mail. But when someone has died, it is not only annoying, it causes distress and upset as well. The Direct Marketing industry wants to put a stop to this and The Bereavement Register is the first such initiative to do so.
We expect that those companies who use The Bereavement Register will be updating their databases weekly or monthly, so the effect of registering should be almost immediate. It is unfortunate that some organisations are less responsible than the industry would like, so it we cannot promise to stop all the mail. However, rest assured that we will be working tirelessly to get more companies using the data.
