Vermin!

AGH! We have mice in the kitchen

Little furry beasts have come in from outside somehow, & seem to be coming up into the kitchen via a hole on the side of the step into the kitchen.

Put some traps down, currently baited with bits of Mars Bar.

Bloody things...

Re: Vermin!

Sounds like you could do with a visit from my dog - she catches mice, rats, flies, wasps (ouch) and always brings the evidence to show you!

Re: Vermin!

I don't hate mice themselves, it's the thought of them all running around the kitchen, leaving their evidence behind, & getting into the food.

Thought about using poison, but then you don't know if they actually have been killed....unless they crawl off somewhere to die & you get a plague of flies...

So we've got some nice simple traps. Set the trap. Splat. Bin the mouse. Re-set the trap...

One made itself a nice little nest in my housemate's box of weetabix last night...one of my other housemate's heard the noise, opened the cupboard, & screamed her head off.

Yeah - all very well in theory - but those mice are cunning, they can remove food from traps without harming themselves!
When I had 'visitors' a few years back I started out with the traps which failed dismally - and after a couple of weeks I put the poison down, carefully because of the dog catching them (!) You will soon know if one dies and is hidden somewhere - the smell of rotting mouse is - erm - distinctive to put it mildly!

Yuk. Hopefully these mice are stupid, & we won't need to use poison.
