So it rusted more quickly than you could get from 0 to 60 in it..

As for other crap cars, I can't believe no-one's mentioned the Capri..

Re: Crap Cars

Yeah, it was the 1.6 laser I was referring to...

Actually, we had mainly second hand cars when I was young. They all had faults but that could be due to bad maintenance by previous drivers.

I remember my mum's MG Midget. Lovely little car until it went wrong. When we took it to the Garage, the mechanic found it had an Austin 1100 engine (as in Engine from) in it..

Had to get rid of it though. My mum was driving to work one day, and was going up hill with her foot on the floor and a milk float over took her. She realised the engine had a slight lack of power then.

I remember when there were 5 of us (plus climbing/walking gear) in a mates Astra climbing the long hill out of Betws-y-Coed towards Capel Curig when we were overtaken by a Reliant Robin - how we laughed

Well how I got interested in Bond bugs (Reliant Engined) was back in the mid 80's I was driving a company Van. It was a 950cc Fiesta, I saw this orange wedge shaped 3 wheeler pull out of a slip road onto the A40, and I decided to put my foot down to catch it and get a closer look..... not a chance!

It probably had an 850cc Robin engine, the other trick is to modify the later Rialto back axle to fit so it cruises nicely at 75MPH.

I have another Reliant engined vehicle and will try to find a link to its picture on the net, it is a 3 wheel truck with 850cc engine. It carries 750Kg and does 45-50MPh flat out screaming, but boy is it quick upto 35MPH from the lights if you can change gear quick enough.

Here it is http://www.3wheelers.com/gal162.html
