Obsessions
I'm putting this in lifestyle as i think it affects us ( those who suffer ) in our day to day lives, so here goes.
Do you have a certain way of doing things ?? is it just a habit or is it an obsession ... O.C.D. Obsesive Compulsive Disorder Link
After washing cups I put them in the cupboard, nothing wrong there you say, I have to have them arranged so that the ones at the back have their handles facing to the right and the next row to the left etc etc, right left right left. Its to the point that when I come home from work if the g/f's been putting them in wrong ? I have to empty the cups out of the cupboard and start again.
Her words on coming home the other day after she had looked in the cupboard were " OMG he's home "
I have a couple more but thats my main one, what if any have you got ???

Re: Obsessions
My affliction is more Old Codger Disease these days.
As mentioned in the likes/dislikes thread, I like even numbers.. if the missus changes the volume on the car stereo to an odd number I change it to an even one.
The only other one I can think of is making sure the bog roll is the RIGHT way round so the paper falls on the OUTSIDE!!

I think im safe to say I dont really have any obsessive behavior, A couple of times I have set myself a task such as arranging my computer or tidying a room and I'll simply get bored halfway through and either give up completeley or finish it the next day (Something someone with O.C.D wouldnt be able to do).
I do find that if someone is having trouble building a computer and I am asked to take over I will dismantle it completeley rather than just down to base components and start it again though I think thats more for timesaving than anything else as this saves me having to do it later if there are problems.
Also when playing some RTS games I used to have to build my bases symetrical, sometimes even if it wasnt convenient to do so, though I dont even do that anymore.

Re: Obsessions
I think everyone has 'quirks' - to a lesser or greater degree, for example I end up checking that I have locked the doors in the house, several times in the space of an hour, or checking that I have my keys in my pocket, i.e. that I haven't left them in the door.
I guess these things get classed as OCD when they start to intrude in your life, i.e. if i was halfway to work, and thought to myself, I need to go and check the locks, and went and did it, then got halfway to work and started again, then I'd consider it OCD...
I do know someone who was diagnosed with OCD, and the 'quirks' I have are nothing compared to what they have..
Bopdude, would your need to rearrange the cupboard prevent you from doing anything else, i.e. would you not go out, inorder to rearrange the cupboard? - or using my example above would it make you turn around on your way back to work to do it?

Probably yes, I would have to, like the other day as soon as I saw it, it had to be done, as for turning around to do it, it wouldn't be in a mess when i'm home as i put them away in order, and when i'm not there to see i don't think about it, or didn't 'till now, thanks mate

MIne is kind of like that. I have a mug tree, which has two levels, four pegs on each level.
The mugs that go round the top level are white, and all have to hang facing left, the bottom mugs are yellow and all have to hang facing right. If they're not, like you I rearrange the whole lot...

Not just mine, daughters, sons, dads, friends ... even more annoying when I open a case and find a different cd/DVD in there

Old singular cups are banished to back of cupboard, or dissapear mysteriously
