The end of the world in 6 years time
This is what some new scientific research is telling us this time:
Quote:
The Sun Will Explode In Less Than Six Years!
The alert was issued after an international satellite photographed a massive explosion on the surface of the Sun that sent a plume of fire 30 times longer than the diameter of Earth blasting into space.
"It's a sign that the Sun is ready to blow . . . I don't know if I can put it any more plainly than that," says Dutch astrophysicist Dr. Piers Van der Meer, a top expert affiliated with the European Space Agency.

Sounds to me if this is true we are all going to get fried !!!
I bet this won't happen, but just imagine if it did !!!

Re: The end of the world in 6 years time
Oh another "The world is going to end" theorist ....
If it happens it happens, what's the point in worrying about it. It would be a natural event, and we would stand no chance ....
Don't worry about the things you can't change.

Re: The end of the world in 6 years time
Somehow I don't think that the governments around the globe would let people know if an explosion like that occured, mass panic might occur if they told us too early

Re: The end of the world in 6 years time
Hmm! Well as I seem to have been told so many times that the sun should last another 200 million years by other scientists I frankly don't believe it.
Just how long have we been measuring the sun's temperature?10,20,30 years?Hardly long enough to gather enough statistics to be so positive.Same goes for the earth's changing environment. We need to have a lot more collected data before anyone can make such statements. The sun has been around unobserved by us for a long time and may well be going through an entirely normal cycle.

Re: The end of the world in 6 years time
So we learn two things from this.....
1)Buy a crap load of factor 5million sun block in a few years
2)Invest in solar panels now

LOL
At one time they were talking about the sun "going out" and the world turning into darkness.

Re: The end of the world in 6 years time
Would make anyone concerned about global warming effects rather pointless. I think I'll give up on Climate Prediction software on my puters now

Re: The end of the world in 6 years time
Why are Yahoo covering this now? The story has been around for 2 years and debunked for almost as long.
http://www.snopes.com/science/sunboom.htm
Besides, since this was published in 2002 and the guy claims within 6 years we know it can`t be true as he is off by 4 (possibly 3) years.

Re: The end of the world in 6 years time
Who honestly here believes that the Sun is going to explode in six years time or less?
