ok as im recovering (and getting better) from my depression, i have too much time on my hands this is bad, i spend alot of time on here and my pc, but i need something else to do, but i dont know what, i can exercise my legs in an area where i can abuse the wall with my football and ofcourse be around my mates, but there is still a huge chunk of time left.
i dont watch tv (hardly)
i dont read books (i do enough reading)
so in other words im stumped.

Re: boredom
Phone up your local radio station and see if they've got any voluntary stuff you can do, such as answering the phones on busy shows etc - it's what I did to get started and now I'm on air each night and getting paid for it
You may even get to meet some celebs too

Re: boredom
Don't sound desperate, just tell them you're interested in finding out more about how radio stations works, stress the fact you'll do it for free and as long as you sound enthusiastic, in a years' time we should all be tuning in to Kronas FM
Seriously, try and find out who the Head of Programming is and ask him/her. You'd be better off calling the radio station's reception as opposed to the on-air studio number though.

Are you creative? Can you draw, paint, sketch? Have you a camera? If you can do any of the former or have the latter you can take walks with the purpose of recording the area where you live.
You could take the pictures and use them to set up a website dedicated to your particular area.Or your interests.
It's late and I MUST go to bed as I'm off to London in the morning, but I will think about some other ideas for you tomorrow evening.
Goodnight and try not to stay up too late. Not after getting into a regular routine for work as you don't want to have to re-aclimatise too much when you do get back to work.
Incog.

Re: boredom
Are there any charity shops in your vicinity?
They're always looking out for voluntary staff to help on a part-time basis and if you work less than 16 hours it doesn't affect any benefits.

oh come on, go take pictures of the traffic lights, or greggs, or something
you might want to get on a bus and go to a park or something to wander/take photos of nature/look like a pervert cos you are crouching in the bushes with a camera (anywhere except mirfield cos mirfield is a dump)...
or go for a walk up the steep hill out of wecky towards white lee...

Re: boredom
Kronie, Get off the PC is the main thing. Get out, Just even for walks, a good long walk always helps me think and clear my mind. Or go to the bus or train station and pick a place you want to go. Then you can take some arty pics like incog said, and what do you mean you don't read books, bloody well read a book.

Re: boredom
kronas I've been thinking about this today.I think you need to find some regular activity like the charity shop thing and to try and keep to a regular sort of timetable every day.Get up at the same time and eat at regular set intervals.Try to go to bed at the same time every night. The more you work at that the better.
How about just taking as interesting photos as you can of the people in your area.Take a look at the winners of the first section of Online Photographer of the Year for 2004.It's not about the area but the people every time.I'm sure you can get some interesting pictures AND get out to meet new people this way perhaps even some girls.
Or try to work on your poetry at a regular time every day.Write something every day and see what you achieve? Write a story perhaps? Please don't say you can't,that's just the depression talking. You already proved that you can achieve anything if you are determined enough. You just have to find something that you can fit around your problems without letting the problems overwhelm your dreams.
Not knowing you well enough I can't know all your abilities.Perhaps compiling a (positive) list of your strengths, abilities and interests might give you some clue as to what you can do.Leave out the negative stuff completely and concentrate on can do's.
Incog.

Yep, totally agree, myself and the kids have enjoyed it and you can be of any ( just about ) fittness level to start.
Failing that how about something a little more drastic volunteer work abroad, you will get to travel, get paid a small living allowance and get a whole new outlook on life, in particular, yours

Re: boredom
You could become a mime.
Lots of fresh air (except when you are trapped in your invisible box) - you get to meet lots of people - you can't talk to them, but meeting people is important...
Why not just start exploring your area? - just wander around some streets, take a direction you wouldn't normally go, you'd be surprised - you sometimes find some really nice areas right under your nose if you know where to look
