Why is it . . .
Footprints and not feetprints (except for the case of Long John Silver)?
Toothbrush and not teethbrush?
A near miss and not a near hit?
That there's British Summer Time but not British Winter Time?
Never hilarious when you hit your funny bone?
That I seem to have far too much time on my hands?

Which reminds me: How many teeth does it take to make a tube of toothpaste?

Because womens (and probably mens) underwear used to consist of two 'tubes' of material joined by a tiestring.....hence 'a pair'

As bipeds, humans in the course of movement only place one foot down at a time. In the rare event of actually standing at true rest, both feet are creating an individual footprint, thus a pair of footprints rather than a feetprint.

BST is a variation on GMT, so Winter time = default = GMT
