Trouble identifying a fungus
It's some sort of fungus but despite two days of searching I can't find a pic that looks anything close. I'd really like to know what it is - it makes me feel uneasy. I know that sounds silly but it does - it's not a normal shape for one thing.
It's growing on the cellar floor and is sort of whispy white/grey in colour. There are like tendrils, only flat, spread out over the floor that have drawn together to form a short stump from which a trumpet has opened. The trumpet's not round though - it's triangular. Imagine a triangle with the sizes pushed in (concave). Then pull the three sides of the triangle apart so the points of the triangle are about an inch apart. There's a depression about an inch across in the middle - only shallow though.
Weird

That does look nasty actually
Why would it be growing in a cellar though? Now that's just weird.

Re: Trouble identifying a fungus
I would be concerned about dry rot !!
Do the tendrils disappear into any walls and up to where any timber is located ??
Does the fruiting body look anything like these pics ??
