Re: Happy St. George's Day

I think it's wrong that St George's day is There should be a British patron saint instead of an English one.

Perhaps we could have one who actually was in this country...

AFAIKR he never even set foot in England!

So who else is going to be making the annual pilgremige to church & parading yourself in front of the local nutters this weekend?

Re: Happy St. George's Day

I knew someone would have a go at this, even if in jest :pp

We have Irish, Welsh and Scottish days with no, afaicansee, jibs at all....so why is the English day so offensive?

....and of course, in todays equal society I feel that it is grossly unfair to ignore the dragon. It should be St Georges and dragon day

The better half was just about to hang a flag out of the window as I left for work this morning I heard on the radio earlier that there's been more celebrations arranged this year than for a long time. About time too, IMO its a continuation of the world cup fever when ordinary people were able to proudly fly a George cross without fear of being branded a racist.

Re: Happy St. George's Day

I'm in Glasgow for the weekend. Don't suppose it would be a very good idea for me to go out and raise a glass to St George tonight, would it?

It would certainly make the evening go with a bang......... you'd probably get to see parts of the city you wouldn't normally consider as well......... though at a guess A&E's are probably pretty much the same all over the country

I don't see why not! If you do, Glaswegians being friendly and generous, someone will probably buy you a drink, and celebrate with you!
