When it comes to sophisticated drinking Britons know they aren't world leaders.

Do you think that the 11pm deadline should be abolished ?
Or do you think that whatever time Pubs/Clubs close there will be trouble ?

To be honest you are going to get a certain amount of trouble when people have drunk a lot. If the closing times are decided by the various pubs/clubs and they aren't all at the same time then surely people will drift out of places at different times, instead of everyone at 11:30.

Last orders in the majority of pubs is supposed to be 11pm. You can apply for extended licences for various events. Night clubs have a different scheme so it means people here have tended to drink a lot in pubs, where it's relatively cheap and then at 11 go on to clubs. It's a throwback to a change made in the war time when they wanted to stop factory workers turning up at work under the influence.

i believe if you dont have last call, people will drift in and drift out to their own schedule and therefore you wont get the masses on the streets at the same time singing and waking Russ up

My opinion too. Most people are trying to get merry before either (a) having to go home at 11pm or (b) having to pay inflated prices for alcohol in clubs. Take this 11pm deadline away and people will be able to take their time and leave whenever they want or start the evening later as many do in Europe.

We do, but we do it quickly. That's the problem. Everyone gets turfed out at about 11:15pm and some start fighting, being sick, breaking things!
