Dream watch?
What is your dream watch?
I am eyeing two watches. The first is from the Rolex Oyster collection: a GMT Master II.
"The Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II dial has a 24-hour hand and an independently adjustable 12-hour hand watch that allows you to simultaneously check the time in any two different time zones. It is self-winding and waterproof to 100 metres/330 feet."
Second one I'd consider is the Breitling Superocean.
One day...

I'm quite happy with my £9.99 Casio digital.

Haha. That looks pretty wicked. I think it will look nice on a gal. Haven't seen them around though.

Re: Dream watch?
I'm more than happy with my £25 timex
It's got indiglo and a digital compass, oh and it tells me the time too!
What more do you want from a watch?
Had a rolex before, from the oyster range back in the late 80's, was naff so gave it to dad.

Re: Dream watch?
BIG Digital display with a small analogue one too.
10+ (yes that many) alarms (I currently use 5 on my watch + my phones too).
Unbreakable strap that has some give, yet is flexible & does not scratch (so not metal), waterproof (so not made of material or leather) so it stays dry when my hand gets wet.
Waterproof watch down to the bottom of a river/canal/bath/swimming pool or 50m whichever comes first.
Unscratchable face.
Big buttons that are easy to press yet do not get caught on other objects & do not wear down through years of pressing.
Text markings that do not wear off.
Sattelite GPS system built in giving digital compass & locations, mobile phone, calculator, phonebook, PC etc built in.
Must cost less than £30.
Till then I'll stick with my Casio Telememo30 & just get a new strap (its broken) because I have found nothing else with 5+ alarms on it & I'd miss the bus if not.

Re: Dream watch?
Dont ever get one of these
btw.....imo, the Breitling and the Rolex are a bit ostentatious (not to mention thief magnets) I think you could do better by buying something equally nice but less well known.
Maby an Omega speedmaster moonwatch....or the mars watch if you can find one

Re: Dream watch?
I've got a Lorus that is waterproof to a depth of 100 metres. It works good enough for me. Being a poor swimmer I hope it won't ever be put to any depth tests. My last thought before drowning might be, "Just look at that, only 60 metres down and the blasted thing's got a leak!"
I have heard that fast running water (flowing from a mains pressure tap for instance) can subject a watch to pressure equivalent to being in deep water. Maybe its worth me having a watch waterproof to a depth 100 metres for that reason.

Re: Dream watch?
I like my Jacob Jensen watch. I couldn't wear a Rolex. Far too flashy, (and ugly). I prefer something a bit more subtle.

It is only ostentatious if you show it off. The two I like isn't solid gold and you wouldn't consider it ostentatious. My friend's dad has the Rolex and I never noticed, not until a few weeks ago when I was sitting beside him at the dinner table.
I like both of those because they look good, and because I would like to support those two companies. I believe they have some of the best engineers around.

A watch suitable for diving should be certified to 200 metres, even though a recreational diver should only go down to 30 metres (max 40metres).

Well if you are set one of those I'd go for the Rolex. A tougher watch imo.
