need some advice
ok, recently i have come across a possible opportunity to work under someone to build pc's, although ill be heading the IT department so ill be building them alone...... (for now)
currently ill be working just 1-2 days per week 12-5:30pm
although if business takes off i will be going full 6 days a week 9am till 5:30am
nothing is concrete, although i have been asked to 'write up' some specs for monday which i will be doing later.......
but my question is based on those 2 times, what amount of money would you ask for if you worked those hours, i dont want to price myself out(or under)........
over to you lot

You could go for a sliding scale, ie. lower wages while the business gets off the ground and more when you are doing more work, profitsharing kind of thing. How much to ask for?....No idea m8, sorry!

Re: need some advice
Difficult one. In the short term it depends on how much you want to help someone grow their business and give you a full time job, and whether you will be rewarded by bonuses or even shares in the business as it grows. If that's the case you might take low pay now, in exchange for a good salary later.
On the other hand, you might want more money, proportionally for a part time that full time job. It's recognised that part timers often do more, in the given time than full timers. That you take a part time job might mean you can't get another job to fill the rest of your time.
In this day and age, I would avoid commiting yourself to the possibilty of a 6 day week. If you do do 6 days, you want an exceptional salary to make up for your loss of freedom. Remember the European Working Time Directive allows maximum 48 hours a week working, and normally one would expect that level to include overtime. 40 hours is regarded as a full weeks worth of full time job, many now are looking at less. Then of course theres the holiday entitlement.

I would go with the 'start off cheap and cheerful' untill the business is coming in idea. That way the guy paying you isn't going to be too worried about his outgoings while he hasen't got much coming in to show for your wages. He may also look on you more favourably in the future if you have helped him out at the outset.

Sorry to go off topic but that is not the case in the uk, there is an opt out clause which a lot of companies use (mine included) which allows you to work more than 48 hours a week.
