Milly Dowler:2 years on
well it's now 2 years on and the police seem to have no
idea what's going on in this case no new clue's or leed's
about the murder for at least the last year now if you ask
me thay have a better chance of finding Lord Lucan or
Shergar before her murder
if you have any info that will get the police off the hook
please call the incident room right away

Re: Milly Dowler:2 years on
I use the station that Milly got off at twice every day (to get there and back) and I'm surprised that her killer has not been caught yet, given the number of people that go through its doors. They have also not managed to recover her personal effects either.
OK it's not like Waterloo, but quite a few people do go through and walk down Station Avenue - surely someone must remember or have seen something?
Two years on the graffiti on the side of a building near the Unilever offices saying RIP Milly still remains, and is a poignant reminder of what happened here.

I thought they were looking into the possibility of the "M25 Rapist" being connected.

Not true for Surrey Police, whose crime rate actually fell last year. As far as I know the only mobile speed camera in Surrey is actually operated as a requirement of one council, Runnymede, who pay the police to operate a camera as part of the "Safer Runnymede initiative". I've never seen the camera out and about, yet I live in the area concerned. I suspect it no longer exists, although the camera signs do. Surrey has very few Gatsos and was one of the more proactive orces with regard to speedng even publishing on the web site the roads which they were targeting with radar guns. But this digresses from the real point of this thread.
Unfortunately with detection of many crimes, however minor or serious, if there are few leads at the time of the event, as time passes the evidence is even harder to trace. It's compounded here in that it was more by luck that her body was eventually found, but by that time, I expect there was little if any forensic evidence.
It was immedately clear at the time she dissappeared from the Walton on Thames area, without a trace, that nobody seeing anything suspicious. Yes it's a fairly busy area, but it is still in many parts residential, and quiet periods thus happen. I'm not that surprised that nobody has been able to recall anything odd. After all, even if a car did stop next to a schoolgirl, at that time of day, even if you did see it in passing, would it strike you as being so odd that you would put it into your memory, for recolection even just a few days later when all the major local publicity had started?
Whilst Surrey Police have not given up, it's clear that they have faced a serious uphill battle to even establish who the offender might have been even if that cannot be determined to the satisfaction of criminal law. As their recent press releases now say, the best hope is of the offender letting slip something in conversation, as their guilt eventually gets to them.

Re: Milly Dowler:2 years on
I'm sorry of I've got this wrong, but wasn't there something in the papers a short while ago, saying that the police wanted to question Ian Huntley about this?

the evidence is that thin now there just praying that if thay question
enough suspects there get a "luck brake"

Re: Milly Dowler:2 years on
Theres a lot of talk on here about the police and thier role so I would just like to say we should give a little time for her family and friends who are continually suffering from her loss with no closure.

It may be two years old but for those who miss her its like a lifetime and it may help them in some small way to know that this community has some time to reflect on thier pain and for us to reflect on how lucky we are not to be suffering like they are.
