EFF, pay a fixed fee and share........

the Electronic Frontier Foundation has proposed a new tactic in solving the problem of consumers sharing files via p2p, that is to impose a monthly levy, the idea being put forward by the EFF is to charge individuals an extra $5 a month on top of there monthly internet subscrption, the scheme would be voluntary, the money made by the 'tax' would be distributed to artists.

should a monthly fee be introduced ?

would you be happy with it ?

the fear of not being sued and 'giving back' to artists who have lost sales...

Re: EFF, pay a fixed fee and share........

I sure the reg did an article on some accountant who worked out that a $6 broadband tax would be enough to cover sharing of music and films.

Makes sense to me, the media industries aren't going to be able to stop it, so they might as well make money out of it, and it'll probably cut down on pirating.
Would you pay £5 for a pirated DVD from the market, or would you prefer to pay an extra £3 a month and download what you want?
