Carr To Seek Release Even Earlier
Maxine Carr is to seek early release under the tagging scheme - report Here .
I suppose she is entitled to, but I am sure it will ruffle a few feathers.

Yup - it's sure to - I wonder how long her replacement identity will last when she's finally released.
Before someone finds her I mean.

Re: Carr To Seek Release Even Earlier
It'll be interesting to see what happens if she decides to come back to Grimsby - at least that's what I read she plans to do. Could be interesting if she does come back

Re: Carr To Seek Release Even Earlier
this is the problem with our 'justice' system people get let out early, why do you think people tend to reoffend, i know she is not a criminal as such but if you have been given a sentence like she has, i expect her to fully see it out.

Re: Carr To Seek Release Even Earlier
I thought this had been refused? That she will have to wait a bit longer.
Incog.

I think they have said they will change the law, to allow them to refuse the request, but say if she applies they will treat th case 'on its merits' - so undecided, rather than refused, at the moment ....

what is the local mood up there about it?
as a matter of interest
myself - I reckon she was just a silly cow
but has wrecked her life by being linked and standing up
for the nonce

Re: Carr To Seek Release Even Earlier
As the Soham MP said on PM this afternoon, it just goes to show how little the gov thinks about the bills it puts forward.
They didn't think enough when they came up with the tagging system to reduce the number of people in prison.
If they had, they wouldn't be scrambling to change things now, simply because maxine could legally be released early tagged.

Re: Carr To Seek Release Even Earlier
My opinion is that her life is effectively over in this country... Where can she go without being recognised?? My answer would be nowhere!
However, is she a nasty piece of work or is she just guilty of being stupid!???!!!?
Answers on a postcard please...........

Re: Carr To Seek Release Even Earlier
I can't help thinking that if the accused had anonymity until they were found guilty, the media wouldn't be able to stir up so much public hatred.
They'd only be able to report the facts that come out after the trial (if found guilty) and that would temper their own accusations and verdict.
Think of it like this, say you knew nothing about Carr, she's found guilty of perverting the course of justice by creating a false alibi for him. The reasons behind this would have come out in the court room, that she loved him, didn't think he was like that, and believed him when he said the police would try and pin it on him because he was "falsly" accused of rape a few years back.
You wouldn't have the media suggesting she was an evil woman who knew he'd murdered those children and deliberately covered it up.
So there wouldn't be the halabalu about her applying for tagged release, and she wouldn't need to have a new identity or police protection (think of the savings that would be)

Re: Carr To Seek Release Even Earlier
I agree. She was just very stupid and also had the disadvantage of being invloved for a crime which was so well publised. She hardly did anything but simply because of what the linked crime was her life is over.

Re: Carr To Seek Release Even Earlier
Well, she may have cost the taxpayer £15 Million, she still might if she is persuaded to leave the UK.
