Arrow someone at the government offices has grasped some reality

education secretary charles clarke has launched an attack on the upsurge in violent programming for young viewers specifically children

he claims much of the violence portrayed on the tv is having a affect on the 'social and educational good' of britain

http://education.guardian.co.uk/clas...113271,00.html

its about bloody time someone did something about the programming on tv especially for the future generation who seem to live on a diet of cartoons some violent and others which insult ones intelligence even if you look at the age ranges

factual programming and a balance of cartoons is a key to sucess and can help ones mental balance i would rather be fed material on tv that is factual rather then a explosion of violence and sex

and cursing has become somewhat over the top these days

I have to say, I totally agree with both you and Charles Clarke.

Sometimes parents have to take a part in this. There has always been a set time where we stopped young children watching TV. The school where I work 7yr olds watch tv till 10pm and some have been able to describe programs I wouldn't let a 16yr old watch. they are watching the X rated porn that is paid for with their parents. Sad to say there are some out there who shouldn't be parents.

If that is the case then they are correct to do something about it.

I agree "something should be done about it", but it's not the same "something".

Television is *NOT* a babysitting service!

Parents should be *responsible* for what their children watch and shouldn't just think "oh thank god they're in their room and they're quiet".

Children are, all too often, becoming more and more isolated and aren't getting the parental attention and social interaction that teaches them the *real* differences between right and wrong which helps them see that violence is *not* a solution to life's problems.

Not even all the preachy, moralising cartoons in the world can supply that.

Yet another attempt to blame bad behaviour on television - I wonder what they blamed it on for all the thousands of years that tv did not exist.

Television is just a convienient scapegoat for bad parenting and all the stupid "pc" policies of the last few years which prevent you actually punishing bad behaviour now. If kids think they can get away with something then they will do it.

you have to wonder why kids these days are becoming increasingly violent in there behavior, i do believe that television has its part to play so does the pupils you interact with they influence others to participate in acts of vandalism and violence

i know this may be a diffarent subject but a person who has never touched drugs suddenly tries one and you know why ?

because his/her mate told them to so depending on the mentallity of the individual some are not so good at saying no and start to feel wreckless off the boil see where im going ?
