R.I.P Bob Monkhouse 1928 - 2003
Comedian and entertainer Bob Monkhouse has died of prostate cancer - The former Family Fortunes star died this morning aged 75 after losing a two and a half year battle against the disease.
He has not had an easy life, both his sons died in tragic circumstances, one died of a heroin overdose the other died of cerebral palsy, he has just one daughter Abigail.

Re: R.I.P Bob Monkhouse 1928 - 2003
I always had a lot of respect for Bob Monkhouse, he was a genuinely funny man and the master of 'ad-lib' - he will be missed!
My thoughts are with his family.

A sad loss indeed, who could forget The Golden Shot on Sunday afternoons.

Re: R.I.P Bob Monkhouse 1928 - 2003
He was without peer - the funniest man I'd ever seen on tv, never had to resort to filth or smut to get a laugh.
Quote:
He was diagnosed with prostate cancer two years ago, and was given an implant in his stomach and a daily pill to allow him to keep working.
Asked about his health, he joked: "I saw a specialist who asked me 'Are you familiar with the phrase faecal impaction?'.
"I said I think I saw that one with Glenn Close and Michael Douglas."

Re: R.I.P Bob Monkhouse 1928 - 2003
Some of his best gags...
"I got my start in silent radio."
"The last time I was in Spain I got through six Jeffrey Archer novels. I must remember to take enough toilet paper next time."
"Personally, I don't think there's intelligent life on other planets. Why should other planets be any different from this one?"
"My wife's see-through nightie is now bi-focal."
"Growing old is compulsory - growing up is optional."
"If you don't go to other peoples funerals, they won't go to yours."
"A miniature village in Bournemouth caught fire and the flames could be seen nearly three feet away."
"I swam in the dead sea when it was only critically ill."
"My father only hit me once - but he used a Volvo."
"They laughed when I said I was going to be a comedian. They're not laughing now."
"What's a geriatric? A German footballer scoring three goals."
"I tend to sleep in the nude. Which isn't a bad thing except for maybe on those long flights."
"I remember when safe sex was a padded headboard."
"Real happiness is when you marry a girl for love and find out later she has money."
"I'm not saying my wife's a bad cook, but she uses a smoke alarm as a timer."
