"Anti-gay" leaflets charge thrown out of court due to lack of evidence
Quote:
A Christian campaigner has been cleared of using threatening words and behaviour when handing out leaflets at a gay and lesbian event in Cardiff.
Stephen Green, 55, said he may take legal action after a court case against him was dropped for lack of evidence.

Common sense really. Although I'd be surprised if he resorts to legal action.

I am pleased to see the charges were dropped

The father-of-one said his treatment on the day of the festival was "disgraceful" and promised he would return to the next festival with even more supporters.

Oh joy, they'll have a second chance to arrest him (the legallity of his arrest was not challenged, so the cps believed that the law had been broken, just had insufficient evidence to prove it in court) and his pals.

If he is arrested again then all going well, the case will just get dropped again and hopefully the CPS will see it's pointless is persuing this sort of case.

Why do you think it's ok for him to get away with breaking the law?

The evidence doesn't support your conclusion. Lack of evidence is easier to deal with in court than legality of arrest. As there was no evidence, there was no need to address the legality of the arrest. Green has however reserved his right to take that issue to court himself at a later date.
And, incidentally, CPS believes law is broken does not = guilty. If they are supposed to be experts at prosecution, how did nobody at the CPS spot thiss lack of evidence before it went to court?

They believed the arrest was legal in that the crime commited was a valid one.

and he was proven innocent, free to leave court without a stain in his character, shame that there wasn't as much fuss about the court throwing it out as there was about his original arrest.

The CPS dissagree.
Do you believe people should be allowed to harrass others in the way that he did, when asked by them not to?

Harrass? Looks like he was handing out leaflets to me. People didn't have to taken them.
None of us were there, none of us really know what happened. Naturally you'd say he was harrassing them, and I'd say he was peacefully demonstrating.

No, the cps in court said that there was insufficent evidence to prossecute.
The court made no decree as this would have been the prelimary hearing whereby pleas are heard.

Looks like he was handing out leaflets saying that the only acceptable same sex love is between that of a father and son, and not as a man loves a woman, and any homosexual acts performed would result in a trip to hell.

All I can say over the matter is - does it really warrant a new thread?
