Awful, sounds like everything has got well and truly out of hand. The owners didn't deserve to die.
It's the father of the baby i feel sorry for, his baby and one of his parents bring killed just like that.
It doesn't say if the attackers were related though does it.

Re: Rottweillers Savage Baby to death
It says and I quote
The death of the baby, Caydee-Lee, is not being linked to the attack, for which two people have been arrested.

Re: Rottweillers Savage Baby to death
yeah the 2 people arrested aren't the same ages as the parents of the dead child so it's another different incident.

Re: Rottweillers Savage Baby to death
It makes me wonder if there was a particular reason why they had such vicious dogs

Re: Rottweillers Savage Baby to death
I'd be very suprised if it wasn't connected. The owners of the dogs just happened to get stabbed the day after the dogs killed the baby. Seems to be too much of a coincidence. I think the police are saying it isn't to prevent an escalation of violence.

That's what I am speculating, were they stabbed because of the action of their dogs or did they have the dogs to protect them from an as yet unknown threat that finally caught up with them today

That's a good point... It did cross my mind, especially when the BBC said lots of people in the area have dogs for security.
I think the timing is too coincidental... Plus they are a couple, which makes it seem unlikely that they are gang members or anything.

Re: Rottweillers Savage Baby to death
Well no more has been added to the story..it does seem that no one is doing more than report the latest facts without probing further so maybe they have been asked by the police to back off for a time.

Re: Rottweillers Savage Baby to death
it has been reported today that the parents were moving furniture around and accidentally left a fire escape open, which is how the dogs got in.

Re: Rottweillers Savage Baby to death
Sad sad news. Whoever was responsible for the baby was responsible for this. Not the dogs. All dogs have the potential to attack - that is in every dogs nature. It's how you treat them, and how you expect them to behave in all sorts of circumstances that contributes towards there general behaviour.
I have a friend who has a Rott-Dober cross. Weighs about 8 stone. Soft as muck, cries if you don't let him get on the bed, rolls over at every available opportunity for you to tickle his tummy.
He knows to bark when he hears someone outside the garden fence. He also knows that if either of his owners let people in through the gate he can stop barking and go back to being the friendly, soppy pile of fur that he is until ordered otherwise.
My friend also has an 18 month son who the dog has never even curled a lip to. But she wouldn't leave the dog and the baby alone for two seconds together. While she has the adult human brain to know what to trust and what not to trust, a dog doesn't - they look at their owners for guidance.
These two dogs in the news where trained to guard, respond to strange noises. Which they did. I just hope whoever made the decision to leave a 5 month old baby in the vacinity of two guard dogs learns how to cope with their tragic mistake.

Re: Rottweillers Savage Baby to death
I disagree - not ALL dogs have the potential to attack. My GSD in his nature has no ability to attack anything other than his nightly meal. If the cat's sleeping in his bed he wont go in it. He doesnt bark at intruders etc and if a burglar came into the house would probably get up and go to get a stroke.
I would be 100% confident leaving him in a room with a baby BUT I wouldn't take that risk with him or any other dog I was 100% confident with as I could be proved wrong.

ALL dogs have it in their natural instincts, and when theres more than one dog the pack instinct can and does kick in.
I have a little jack russell He loves nothing more than giving cuddles and having his belly tickled. He dotes on me, yet he has bitten me more than once. He knows whenj I tell him to do something he must do it, and he does. He is wary of me when he is naughty, and yet he has still bitten me and was prepared for the conseqences.
