NPower in 3rd price hike again
BBC
Quote:
Energy company Npower is to increase its prices for domestic customers for the third time in the past 12 months.
From 1 October, gas bills will increase by 17.2% and electricity by 9.9%, the company said.
It blamed the rise on an increase in wholesale costs, which it said had surged 250% since 2003 and 60% in the past year.
The new charges will lead to an average increase of £92 a year for gas users and £36 for electricity customers.

Yet another price rise Nice to see that all the utility companies are quick to raise prices but are never so quick to reduce them when the chance arrives

And they always do it just as the winter months are starting when you use them more anyway

Ahh good old npower. If I were to post my opinion of them, I may well end up having to ban myself from the forum..

Dunno mate, you'd probably be at the end of a very long list of people who gain points on the new system

Re: NPower in 3rd price hike again
ok so our national inflation is below 2.5% whats the average fuel costs inflation for last 12 months? will be very interesting to see. If fuel was included in government inflation figures the government would have a serious problem on its hands and I predict soon benefit claimants will be needing help alongside pensioners.

We are pensioners but as yet don't claim any benefits as we can just manage, plus we get the winter fuel allowance, but this rise is going to add around £3 a week to the bills which is a lot out of ones pension. If it keeps on going up what then.
Is it right Npower is owned by a German company the same as Powergen?

Is Npower is owned by a German company
|
Yep - RWS, who also own Thames water ( probaly some others to, no doubt)
All my utility spending filters back to Germany
And they are doing quite nicely out of it thanks
"RWE reported a forecast-beating first-half operating profit of €4.1 billion (£2.77 billion), up 19 per cent, owing to rising electricity, gas and oil prices. The company’s shares fell 2.2 per cent to €68.37 after the company trimmed its profit forecasts. RWE npower, its UK energy, operation saw operating profits rise 30 per cent to €274 million.
"

Sorry you've got me started now
Thames Water
"A fresh fat-cat storm erupted at Thames Water over a £2.6m package paid to its former boss last year, MPs said it was 'breathtaking' that ex-chief executive Bill Alexander received so much when the under-fire company had missed its leakage targets three years running.
"
"It has also emerged that the current directors of Thames Water could make as much as £30m after it is sold by its German parent RWE."

Re: NPower in 3rd price hike again
I've just signed a contract with British Gas today, i originally wanted NPower but i'm glad i didn't now, no matter how bad people say British Gas are, they can't be any worse than the monkeys at EDF Energy, who i'm currently with.
The British Gas guy today said my prices will be frozen for 2 years, and handled my quizzing very well when i asked if the price freeze is because they are loads more expensive in the first place lol

LOL, I thought it was, though.
British Gas were the first to bring in a massive (over 20%?) price rise earlier in the year I think, & I'm sure they were the first to announce another massive price rise recently, before npower etc.

That's what i thought, but the bloke reckons they haven't
I think they're all expensive now anyway, but anyone has got to be better Customer Service-wise than EDF Energy anyway

Re: NPower in 3rd price hike again
I get both my electric and gas via Southern Electric. 30 a month for electric and 25 for gas, for a three storey, three bedroom house. And I think we're in credit at the moment too. And the CS has been good whenever I've rang them

I thought it would be, i don't mind too much, all i want to know is, how much i'll be paying every month, and will i expect a huge bill after 6 months. He said no to the latter though
