Asda to scrap age question
http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/...539882,00.html
Good bit of PR for them I suppose although I'm not suggesting it's a cynical ploy - as long as someone can do the job then who cares how old they are.

Re: Adsa to scrap age question
Well done, ASDA. Let's hope some British companies follow suit.
Would anyone from NTL care to comment?

Re: Adsa to scrap age question
Not sure this is the right place for an official comment however when I worked for them one of the guys on my team was 56 years old and drove National Express coaches for 30 years and was regularly a top performer in our monthly stats. Probably because he had only learnt technology "the ntl way" and didn't need to 'unlearn' other methods.

Re: Adsa to scrap age question
A good move indeed...
Incidentally shouldn't that be ASDA and not ADSA as the thread title suggests

Re: Asda to scrap age question
I wonder how many 14 year olds they'll end up employing.

I was thinking the very same thing. Wouldn't they break the law by hiring under age staff?
They have no choice but to ask the question: "what's your dob?

If it gets them off the streets, hire as many as possible.

It is an irrelevant question, in the same category as shoe size and hair colour.

Graham Rix wished had asked that irrelevant question, it would have saved him 6 months
