The decision to subtitle a BBC One show on heavily-accented North Sea fishermen has "puzzled" people in north-east Scotland, a politician has said.

My accent may not be the most perfect...but I think in many cases this is a good idea

Re: Seaman Trouble
Heh reminds me of when "Why Don't You?" had a film from a school in Belfast they subtitled it.
I watched that show last night, in some parts of it the subtitling was helpful mostly due to the background noise of being on a trawler.

Re: Seaman Trouble
It helps those ( me included ) that are a bit hard of hearing and have trouble with dialects, good idea sorry if it causes offense, I remember years ago Rab C Nesbit was subtitled for those watching in the south IIRC

Re: Seaman Trouble
Is it me or does that minister look strange? hmmm
I think it is a good idea to be subtitled as there is often a lot of noise in the background combine that with an accent you are unfamiliar with and it can make it difficult to follow

Re: Seaman Trouble
What a plava over nothing - so what if its subtitled - it went out over the whole of the UK.
Where do people get off reporting this stuff - its not even a story.
That DOES however look like Father Jack...
