Escape again

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/5228098.stm

I'm not sure escape is the right word for an open prison.

This place is not that many miles from where I live, I remember a lot of fuss when the authorities were claiming no sex offenders were being kept there.

Last month an inmate walked out and police warned the public not to approach him because he could be dangerous, am I missing something but should inmates considered dangerous to the public be in an open prison?

Why? The government weren't responsible for the day-to-day running of the prison. For that matter, the government weren't directly responsible for terms of the sentence handed down.

If you want to apportion blame, why don't you blame the (apparently) lax security at the prison itself?

How can you blame the lax security though, it is after all an "Open prison" you can lay the blame on the people who make the decisions to allow sex offenders to be kept in an open prison.

After all if they announce an escaped prisoner is a danger to the public, surely he shouldn't of been in an open prison to start with.

I'm not arguing that point - what I'm saying is that there's no point in blaming the government per se. The fact of the matter is that there has been a slip up in security, which is evidenced in the fact that someone escaped

Escapes from this place is a regular occurance. Its about 6 miles from where I live and a friend of the family living there says "When you hear that helicopter, you never know what the escaped person is capable of"

I think they have been lucky around there that none of the escaped prisoners have actually harmed anyone. (to my knowledge) My wonderful "Do-Gooder" neighbour living opposite works there as a prison guard or whatever they call them these days. He has such a liberal attitude and belief that there is no one bad in this world, he probably gave them the bloody key.

Ah, well, in that case, I'll agree that it's not lax security - maybe they should have checked the cake that your neighbour took in with him last time he visited

Another one!

interesting how they have chosen to be quiet about this one until the fuss has died down about the last ones.
