Now the Politically Correct have gone too far!
Just read this [bbc.co.uk] story - it's outrageous!

Somebody in Lyme Regis, Dorset, thought so and their complaint has now put an end to the 40-year tradition of "conger cuddling" in the town.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution has deemed that using a dead conger eel to try to knock down some of its members is "inappropriate".
The event, traditionally held in Cobb Square in Lifeboat Week, is no more.

Whatever happened to the rights of those who do like hitting men with a smelly dead eel? I'm thinking of writing a letter to my MP, or maybe even trying to get someone in Brussels to step-in and overturn this.
Anyone else as upset over this as I am?

It's a little more sinister than the BBC lets on: link
Quote:
animal activists threatened to film the event and use the footage to start a national campaign against it.
Rob Michael, the chairman of the Lyme Lifeboat Guild, said: "We have been advised by the RNLI headquarters at Poole to abandon the conger cuddling event following a local complaint from animal rights activists.

Is this where the expression better than a smack in the mouth with a wet fish came from?

Maybe they should dig up the relative of an animal rights activist and use him instead of the fish.
No, I'm not being serious.
