Re: Postage price daylight robbery rises!! Must read info

It's a legitimate subject matter so the thread stays open for now. Just because people don't agree with the OP's point of view is no reason for thread closure

Some will think it's a great idea, some not. Some things will be cheaper to send Others more expensive

The big issue here is the complexity. How many Joe averages are going to be able to get their head around it. Now you have to know both the weight and size pricing

Incase this hasn't been posted already, Royal Mail will be delivering size guide leaflets to all UK addresses in the two weeks beginning from 31 July.

I've already used the size guide and it's a doddle to use. Just don't lose it.

I am still waiting for my size guide to arrive, I had to smile when I read on here that thickness counts as well as size

15-20kg of Training materials in a parcel to be delivered.

£37.50 - Parcel Force throught the PO
£12.91 - www.parcel2go.com ( who use dhl)

Re: Postage price daylight robbery rises!! Must read info

Ah but as a residential customer, even if parcelforce costs more, it can be worth it if I'm on the receiving end. I'll usually be out at work. The courier companies depots can be miles away, yet the local Royal Mail sorting office is exactly that, local making it quick and cheap to pick up items. I'm not saying here that Parcel Force should have prices so much higher - that difference is a bit extreme - just that overall recipient convenience needs to be taken into acount.

So what you're all saying is that even though Royal Mail are not meeting of it's SLAs* and they put the prices up in april, you're all happy for them to do it again next month.

All I can say is - Suckers

Edit - if you want to see how badly they are doing take a look here:

What if you gace me £8.96bn?

Maybe I'd take you up on it. After all they managed to increase profit by 114% last year to £537m - not bad.

Saying that though they're never happy - I think it's a case of "much wants more, gready wants the bloody lot.

Turnover at the Royal Mail reached a record £8.96bn, while 84 million letters a day were handled, one million more each day than the previous 12 months.

The £537m profit was a 144% rise on the previous year's £220m.
*Am still looking for that quote

Edit again -
Quote:
Ann Winterton: Last year, the Royal Mail failed to meet 12 out of 15 of its national performance targets. This year, it will fail them all, and the new chief executive has publicly apologised for its appalling level of service.

Youve ventured an opinion and people dont agree, doesnt mean it has to be deleted, thats all part of a discussion forum. If your awareness of the change is now improved then there was a purpose to the thread (unlike the 3 letter game thread )

at least when i goto the courriers depot they are open, where as our local royal mail depot is only open to 13:00 which means its a right pain in the backside to get there to pickup a parcel as im usally at work when they are open.

We have the size guide at work. I had a look at it and was confused. Methinks this is the idea. You think, "Oh **** this", and stick a four first class stamps on it, just be safe.

This is true. Unfortunately, competition (hence my inclusion of nicke's post) will bring about even more confusion. Oh, the marvels of free market economy. Let's confuse the consumer as much as we can in an attempt to show we're cheaper (when we're not)...
