Apparently we're all a bunch of Germans:

What exactly is a 'Germanic' chromosome? Does it have lederhosen and no sense of humour?
Anyways.... Nothing changes. Even today we are ruled by a load of inbred Germans.
I'll take the beer, sausages, vehicles & de-restricted autobahns though.

Germans, on the whole (imho) have a great sense of humour - I lived in Berlin for 2 years when I was in the RAF, and found they were a really nice bunch of people.
Of course, that may just have been because we were the only thing between them and our Soviet (as was) friends. A lot of the Berliners still had memories of the last time Ivan visited in 45, and not good ones. They even preferred the French to the Russians!

Yes, Germans have a sense of humour, it's just rather different from the British. A bit cruder (they loved Bottom when I took a video of it over there), but nevertheless well developed.
I'm not sure where the stereotyped humourless German came from, but it's about as accurate as many other stereotypes.
They do like their cabbage, though.

In my (limited) experience, they are extremely friendly, do not necessarily lack a sense of humour, but do have a tendency to take things terribly seriously.

Well, they do make some seriously nice cars...
Why didn't they leave the gene for that with us? Or did the Germans get some of their genes from other Europeans...?
