I dont want to get into a big argument about that one but....
Why are the Illegal Immigrants/Asylum Seekers or whatever they are unable to speak English when frequenting some of the bars in Cardiff. I have been "Grunted" at by one who bumped into me and spilled his drink down himself because he wasn't looking, and many women who go out for a drink in Cardiff will comment that they are not able to communicate but instead resort to grabbing the womens bodies wherever they think is acceptable in their own countries.
I have only seen trouble in the one bar that I have frequected for about 5 years, and it was because one girls boyfriend took exception to the constant mauling of women including his own girlfriend. I understand the bouncers now refuse them access to this particular bar because they behave like animals and not human beings.
make no mistake, I talk and dance with women and generally have a good time but I would not dare go up and grab hold of one. I would expect a kick in the goolies if I resorted to that sort of thing.

Re: economic migrants
Economic migrants do what is called the 3d jobs in this country, Dirty, Degrading and Dangerous. They do them for low wages because they have no papers.
I don`t condone the practice but it`s a way of life, so you can add employers to the list of blame as well.
Where exactly would we be without them? Who is going to do all these jobs?
Don`t tell me all the unemployed in the UK will because they will not.

blackthorn, you have hit the nail right on the head about a subject that I mentioned before and was as usual ignored.
I have a girlfriend who's sister is involved with migrants illegal/asylum whatever, and said the numbers of these poeple working with false national insurance numbers are much higher than anyone can imagine. She said the government is not interested because A) these poorly paid dirty jobs are not filled by people in this country and B) why should they care if Tax and NI is being paid on the earnings, it far easier for the government to turn a blind eye because certain industries would be on their knees without these illegal workers.
The same thing happens in South Africa where the poor from swaziland and Lesotho go to work in the south african mines.

I understood that economic migrants were the ones who chose to come here for there own economics and not to help the economics of this country!

Re: economic migrants
Surely the crux of the matter is that any would be migrant to this country should be able to demonstrate one of two things:
A). They can prove they will make a positive economic benefit to this country i.e. they have a proper job (not just helping out in their cousins shop or take away !) or skills that are in shortage here. They should be able to support themselves from day 1.
B). They are genuinely escaping a repressive regime and this is their first safe country of landing.
Illegal immigrants (and by that I mean those who sneak on lorries or ships etc clandestinely or otherwise attempt to disguise their entry) should be held in secure accommodation until they can be returned from whence they came and no claims for asylum (or other forms of permanent residency) should be accepted from those who attempt to enter this country illegally (if their claim was justified they should not attempt to enter secretly).

The problem is that sometimes people have no other means of enterng the country other than on a lorry as they have paid money to a trafficer to do it.
The illegal Migrants are the Australians working all over the UK ......they are the ones you should be annoyed at. They are here to take money back home!

They are not illegal - they are legal and need a work permit, either automatically granted for the first 24 months or an extension applied for with valid reason.
They are not the only economic migrants, the US and Japanese financial service firms often have very senior ex-pat staff, without migrating these staff, these companies would not have the confidence to set up in this country and employ more local staff.
While they are here they spend a good proportion of their income on housing, food, entertainments and the arts, travel, clothes, a proportion may be exported, but this actually helps the countries balance of payments as we are a net importer of goods.
I'm starting to wonder what I pay my taxes for. Everytime I need this government to do something for me I seem to need to pay an additional service fee. My wifes passport will need a new permanent leave to remain sticker in it next year and now the government is proposing I find £500 for this. Where from? Do we not eat for a month?

Sorry, but that is nonsense. As someone has mentioned, many highly educated foreigners work here as expats. They pay their taxes here, and may end up being net contributors to the UK economy. For one, any European Union citizen can come and work in this country, as Brits can work anywhere in the EU. And people may not come here for economic gain (or to take advantage of the NHS). They may simply decide to work abroad for a couple of years as it is good for their career..

Re: economic migrants
Economic migrants are not here for the economy of this country but for the economy of themselves. They wouldnt be here if there wasnt any work for them.
Lots of people are turning a blind eye to the work they do. The big supermarkets dont help either, with their price wars to entice shoppers in.
These economic migrants will work at an hours notice to dig the cheap spuds that you get at Asda and the rest of the supermarkets. Supermarkets phone their buyers and tell them to get 10 pallet loads of spuds for their special offer this week, the buyer phones the gangmasters who can organise gangs of workers within an hour to dig them up.
So who is to blame? its all of us, the consumer the supermarkets and the farmers. We all want our cheap food and clothes.
If there are spuds on offer in one shop at £2 a bag and in another shop at £1 a bag, I know which ones I`m going to buy. I suppose I should care but I dont, where they have come from or who has dug them up.
Thats my economics anyway, I`m not rich enough to have a conscience.
