Darren Jenkins, former church lay reader and youth volunteer has been found guilty of rape on a 16 year old boy:

In my mind, at least some of the blame must be apportioned at the feet of whoever employed him. I'm only making an assumption here, but wouldn't (shouldn't?) he have been placed on the sex offenders list if he was convicted 3 years ago, in which case there were obviously no checks made on his background. Having said that, it's inexcusable that he did what he actually did, but he was 'given' the opportunity (although please don't think that I'm saying it's not his fault).

As for the childs mother saying that she would welcome 'Megans law'? Unfortunately, while I have no problem with the authorities having the information on registered offenders addresses, the risk of incorrect information being on there makes it, to my mind, inappropriate to let the public have full access. What would happen, for instance, if the offender moved on and someone else moved into that address, but the list wasn't updated?

This sick b****d used to drink in my local pub the 'George' in Pontypool, He used to come in often on a Thursday night with the local priest.

You could ask my ex girlfriend about me being right 99% of the time when I dont like someone or take an instant dislike. There was something very strange about this guy and I certainly took an instant dislike. What the articles fail to mention is the number of times he got away with sexual acts with children for a number of years as the church protected him.

One priest resigned because his concerns about this guy were brushed aside, there were numerous calls for investigations into him but the good old church didn't want a fuss.

It has never come out, but the local gossip was about him also being quite fond of pensioners, the older the better and both sexes.

I would love to see him set foot in my local again on a busy saturday night, I wouldn't take any bets on him walking out of town.

Alas it's probably a long time till we see him again, second thoughts though, is there a minimum sentence suggested for this guy!

PS: He lived a stones throw away from me and used to walk past my house often.
