It doesn't mean being soft, in fact, you sometimes have to be quite hard to help people understand what they are doing is wrong.
Watch "Pay It Forward" - a bit schmaltzy, but it could work; do three acts of kindness to others, that you don't expect anything back for.
I may be crazy, but I like being crazy.

I don't think you are being crazy at all! We could all work alot harder to make the world a better place and to be more friendly with one another it's just that half the time we are so wrapped up in our own lives that we just don't seem to find time to improve or help others...

Re: What's YOUR View....???
Wow!That's one hell of a bump of a thread.
Myself I think the world might just be a better place if we did just get on with our lives.Too many people think they know what's good for other people and behave accordingly, throwing their weight about. It's fanatics and obsessives that screw up the world whilst 90% of the world just wants to live a quiet and uneventful life, just bringing up children and keeping a roof over their heads.
Then because of said fanatics the 90% have to get up and start opposing the fanatics and obsessives with unfortunate results as the fanatics have usually got themselves armed and prepped for war.
They are like children who during a 100 degree heat want to run around screaming while the adults just want to siesta.
Sorry just bored with the morons of the world and at 54 I'm totally sick of war and the incessant squabbling that so many parts of the world are STILL indulging in...I still fail to see why there is a conflict in Darfur. The place is a desert and has nothing that anyone in their right minds would want to fight over.

It has one thing, Water. I Believe this is a key catalyst in the conflict over there and as you mentioned it is a desert so it makes it worse.
I do not have a porblem with religious people at all. I just like talking about religion from a ideological and debate point of view. I like talking, learning, and debating it. I find it weird people have a faith which is organized and is based on what people have said or written years and years ago.

Re: What's YOUR View....???
War will always exist.
We are at a basic level animals, and if you look around the other animal species, all fight for dominance.
We may have come up with convenient excuses, religion, they were threatening us with WMD etc but it all comes down to most people want to be the most powerfull.
We have progressed further than animals, instead of using ourselves to fight we now have thermo nucular weapons but the reason is the same.
Obviously none of these theories can ever be prooved, as i dont think religion will ever not be here. But all the wars i can think of have been directly or indirectly linked with land ownership or holding power.

So!I'm sure that everyone could sort the problem of a lack of water more sensibly than fighting over it.If they pooled their resources they might come up with a way to produce more of it and share it out fairly. As it is with the ecological disaster that's looming all over the world it could be, unless they behave more constructively, that what water there is will be gone because Nature has intervened in a big way to make any war pointless.

I doubt they are thinking logically. Although in a poor country I am not sure what could be done to increase water supply's. Something we could do, with the help of the UN (if they decide to actually help instead of issuing a document saying 'war is wrong')

Poor country? They have a booming oil trade, perhaps if they spent some of that revenue on their people and the country's infastructure instead of lining their own pockets and buying yet more weapons it would be a start
In fact why are we even buying oil from them whilst they continue with their state sponsored crimes?
