i think everybody should read this story....this is why a patient should not be allowed to die, we should do all we can help a person get back on their feet, even if the task seems impossible..

a quite moving story..

Sorry, can't agree with that. It may be ok in a country where insurance pays or where relatives can afford the upkeep, but not in a country where hospital treatment is paid by taxes.
How could you possibly take up thousands of hospital beds on the hope that one day, 20 years, 30 years, 60 years (never), someone might make some limited movement.

so if it was someone you loved and was potentially in the same situation you would let them go just like that ?

where is the heart in that ?

I would put my trust in the doctors and be guided by them.
You have to think about the economic side of these things as well.
The sheer enormity of hanging on to what usually turns out to be a false hope is staggering.
This time the brain must overrule the heart. Sorry.
