Hamas are going to win!
This'll be interesting - perhaps we should press the big red button and be done with it.

Still, makes you wonder, if a 'terrorist group' can get elected fairly, what does that say for that country as a nation

I think it tells us that a majority of Palestinians support terrorism. Which doesn't bode well for the future.
With many countries having stated that they do not wish to deal with the terrorist organisation, yet the only way forward is a dialogue with the Palestinian 'government'.
But with Hamas at the helm, I can only see the palestinian position become more entrenched.

Re: Hamas are going to win!
Truth is the - the people have spoken and voted in true and fair democratic elections to select their new leaders.
Iran has a terrorist in charge too - were still talking to them - although im gonna bet not for long.
I can see us going in there soon and ending that problem too.

That may be, or it might be mass election fever, word of mouth and empty promises. I voted in South Africa's first 'free' election, the ANC ( Terrorists or freedom fighters ) had filled the heads of it's followers with promises of wealth and a better life, what happened next is history and OT but, could be a similar thing happening in Palestine, time will tell,

It makes you wonder what the U.S Bush / Blair admin will make of it and do about it if 'they' step outta line ??

Re: Hamas are going to win!
Some might argue that the US and UK voted for a 'terrorist' government , only difference is neither of the present administrations got a majority vote.

Re: Hamas are going to win!
Some might also argue that citizens of the UK voted terrorists into the assembly in Northern Ireland, it's called democracy.

Who have already said:

That's what I call a really positive result for the democratic process. NOT.
I bet Hamas think that if they're in government, then they can determine the outcome. I believe they'll find that rather more difficult than they think, and I suspect the outcome is more likely to be one where they have to face open warfare against Israel. After they lose that, we'll be back where we were 40 years ago.

I suspect this result was in no small way driven by the demise of Sharon.

Which was sort of the point I was (trying) to make i.e. if we can vote in Bush, Blair (and the NI Assembly), then we can't really complain about Palestine electing Hamas.

LOL (although I've never noticed if we disagree more than agree - although it is entirely possible due my eclectic views).
Also note that Hamas got a 'resounding' majority, unlike Blair, Bush et al !!!
