She probably had it done with the original meaning of the saying in mind and like most people, had no idea that it was used by an anorexia site.
So is everyone who doesn't know that the phrase is used by an anorexia site also stupid?

There could be many interpretations of that tattoo (which I believe she has had for some time), e.g.:

Those who nourish her, by giving her their love and care would also destroy her if anything bad ever happens to them, since she would share their suffering and sadness.

Whatever it is that nourishes you, can also be your downfall. For example, food, alcohol, drugs, love, sex, whatever. Food whilst essential for life, we need to eat and drink to live, but in our western societies we tend to eat too much, which is bad for the health, causing obesity, heart problems etc.

Maybe it has to do with her once 'dangerous' lifestyle of cutting herself etc., that what nourishes (comforts) her is self-destructive in the end?

It's all subjective and why it should be linked to anorexia (a lack of nourishment) escapes me.

Anyone who is London way listen to the Capital breakfast show tomorrow- they have been having a compo this week for the worst tattoo in london... some quite amusing examples! (the competition was, incidentally, sparked by this news)

Wow!! Are you people that naive!! The quote is a Latin proverb!! It could mean anything!! Who fault is it that Anorexic people took it out of context and proclaimed it as their motto!! Im sure Angelina Jolie wasnt trying to support anorexia and tell young women that skinny life is the way to stardom!! Stop trying to read into what people has tattooed on their body so much!! It could mean anything to her...different things nourishes people, and those same things and different things can destroy you!! No one knows what that proverb means to her, so stop trying to crucify her!! I happen to have that proverb tattoed on me...doesn't mean I support anorexia!! It has its own meaning for me...does that make me a bad person!! There are many proverbs that people have tatooed on them, but its because they take something form that proverb, and t means something to them!! Gosh why are people so damn smart, but yet so damn dumb
