It's easy to create an unrivalled service when you are being funded by the tax payer to the tune of gazillions. I would create an unrivalled service too with all that money. Personally whether you think it's unrivalled or not i think the Channel4 News it far better, and i would take that every single time over the BBC. Another example as to why i don't need to be forced into paying for the BBC.

I beg your pardon? So my opinion is 'twaddle'. is it?
You think that Channel 4 has a better news service so, as a result, let's just scrap the entire thing? Well, I think that the BBC is miles better than Channel 4, so we've reached a bit of an impasse here, haven't we?
Oh, and the next time someone wants to spout off about how 'the majority of the viewing public don't want the licence fee', just remember that the majority of the public didn't vote for abour to win the election, and look what happened there. Sometimes, you've just got to live with what's there, haven't you?

Hobbits? So Lord of the Rings is going to be on the BBC now?
I think the majority, while not happy with the license fee, recognise it is there for a purpose and are willing to pay for it.

I agree, and i do live with it every day and don't get upset about it at all. I am comfortable enough that money isn't an issue. But it still doesn't make it right having a TV licence.
I do apologise if i offended though, it wasn't my intention, i can just get very passionate when it comes to the TV licence. Apologies again.
I just feel if the government looked at it in an objective way (which i know will never happen with governments) then it wouldn't force people into it and it would be optional. I truely don't believe that if the BBC no longer existed, that we would see degradation in service across the board from other providers just because the BBC wasn't there to set standards.
Anyway, that was my last post as i think i will only go around in circles!

What's disgraceful? I think you'll find that no-one (or, at the very worst a tiny majority of people) expect others to help fund the BBC and, in fact, as dezzo says appreciate what the BBC does.

YOU think so you know better than official opinion polls then do you?
Lets face it you guys just don’t want to be burdened with the cost so will keep going on telling people porkies to keep your costs down. No more £11 million taxi costs, No more £38 million hotel bills, No more £500 million relocation costs

Official opinion polls? Who carried them out? Who paid for them to be carried out? I'm just asking because, apparently, you're happy for money to be wasted on opinion polls that appear to have had exactly zero effect, but not on the BBC, which is appreciated around the globe.
Oh, and for the record, it wasn't my opinion that went in those polls - wish they'd asked me, really...

Knowledge is power? Not exactly Superman then, are you?
Why exactly is my argument zero? It's very easy to get any results that you want out of an opinion poll - yhou just have to target the right people. If you ask the right people, you'll get results that state categorically that the moon is made out cheese. Doesn't meant that it's right, or accepted by everybody else, does it?

I wouldn't even know where to look for an opinion poll that supports your argument. Anyway, it would appear that you are deliberately ignoring the point again - you can target an opinion poll so that you get the result you want. Doesn't mean that everyone will agree, does it?

Again, I have to correct you. If you actually read the relevant post, you'll see that what I said was that it's easy to target a particular group when you're carrying out an opinion poll.

You can brush things to one side all you like but this has shown just how weak the argument for the BBC really is. Opinion polls have shown how accurate they can be over & over again check election results as an example
