This was in the Mirror, with that picture. A bit gruesome if a kid happens to read it.

Re: Realistic training video
Deaths on the railway are usually suicides, trespassers or workmen (actual railway accidents are so rare that they hardly figure in most years). Not a lot you can do about the first, the second is very hard (CCTV, more police, crackdowns on level crossing bandits helps) - the last is very important, no one should go to work and lose their life preventably.

Re: Realistic training video
Would be that all Training / H&S vids were as realistic.
We had a technician fall through a roof skylight very recently and fell 30ft onto a concrete floor.
He's out of hospital now and well on the way to recovery, but it is unlikely he will be able to do anything but a desk job. He is VERY lucky he can even walk since he did shatter his spine.
Perhaps he would have though more about a safety line had he seen a graphic video.

I wasn't saying that it should not have been made, just seeing an amputated arm in a newspaper might have been a bit bad. If it works fair enough

Re: Realistic training video
Don't see anything wrong with the safety video, after all, has anyone seen the German warehouse safety video with severed heads and impalments?
I'm not suprised the Mirror chose that picture, although I think a responsible newspaper would not have.

Re: Realistic training video
If a kid happens to see it then perhaps it may actually dissuade him/her from going on the railway tracks too.

Re: Realistic training video
I think it is the kids that they should be targetting more. Ok, its good that the firms are providing safety videos for their staff, but there are a lot more deaths caused by kids playing on train tracks.

Re: Realistic training video
Strong stomach required - here's a Czech site showing their attitude to level crossing safety education. Perhaps something like that would be good.
And this one's real

Re: Realistic training video
You know in supermakets we have those boards where you can put free ad cards up? "Pram for sale" etc that sort of thing?
In Saudi the supermarkets have a similar thing, except it's got photo's and details of car accidents, with pools of blood ringed (nobody is in any of the photos though) to warn people to drive safe.
They also have police standing by traffic lights ready to cane anyone stupid enough not to be wearing their seatbelts.

Re: Realistic training video
What, like:
"NAUGHTY MAN..."
*swish*
"...YOU COULD GET SERIOUSLY INJURED..."
*slash* *swish*
"...NOT WEARING A SEATBELT..."
*blam* *slash* *swish*
"...WHY ARE YOU UNCONSCIOUS AND BLEEDING?

No, not really.
Interesting view you have of the Saudi's there BB
