I could see this being employed very usefully in red light areas

I guess its a sound wave only picked up by people under 20 Sounds ineffective

Possibly, but it still stands that this isnt a fair system.

Re: Alarm to send street yobs fleeing
I think this system should be introduced IN post offices and banks at lunch times to keep the old dears away. Yes they aren't very threatening, but boy do they take for ever to cash in their pensions or buy stamps.

Why not? How would you like it if this system affected a group you belonged to?

Re: Alarm to send street yobs fleeing
In all seriousness, Im going to have to agree with Kliro and Damien on this. Its not a fair system to put all youths in the same category. Too many people nowadays simply think that a group of teens standing on the street are looking for trouble or looking to cause trouble. Unfortunately its the trouble making youths that have given you all a bad name. Yes its not fair, but life aint fair anyway (well not always) so you'll just have to get used to it.

Oh fer goodness sake are you telling me you LIKE hanging about outside shops late at night? That your life is going to be seriously affected by this issue? That all under 20 year olds should HAVE the right to intimidate shop customers and that this system undermines their human rights? Piffle!!!

That's only if they aren't wearing ipods (or similar) turned to full volume thus damaging their hearing.
I can remember how boring it was being a teenager (no money and nowhere to go) nothing has changed
There is a guaranteed cure for yoof and we all increase the numbers year by year until we become moaning old fogies!

Re: Alarm to send street yobs fleeing
The best option is to play music that nobody in the age group would like (Max Bygraves, Des O'conner) there'd soon disapear.
I don't have a problem with them bineg there in groups.
Except there is a woman a few doors up from me how has problems (she lost the plot when she came home and found her ol' man in bed with another bloke in a compermising postion).
She shouts at him (even though he's not acually there) she has thrown poo over cars that park outside her house (we have never been targets as my parents told us off when she was acting strangly). she has had a dolls head stuck on a stick with half black and half white face. which she points at peoples doors.
Kids often sit on the local green NTL box and swear at her. there are he people how should be targeted

Why is it when I couldn't stand Max Bygraves as a teen I am expected to like him as I get older?
There isn't a switch that comes on immediately turning your music taste off.
Don't forget there are those of pensionable age that would certainly argue the point.
Anyhow. In areas where you do not want yoofs hanging about (such as outside late opening shops) it seems a reasonable idea, but it should go hand in hand with providing entertainment that these teenagers can enjoy and participate with, that doesn't cost the parents an arm and a leg.

Re: Alarm to send street yobs fleeing
This has to be a wind up. An alarm that only under 20s can hear? How the hell does that work? What happens when you turn 20? You suddenly get a new set of ears or something?
