Unlikely as many places consider mice etc as vermin so dont come into any cruelty elements even if Mexico has such crulety laws, however many insurances even here do not cover damage from animals, some will cover pet incidents but most will never pay on vermin damage :o so maybe the mouse got its revenge

It's New Mexico - i.e. USA and they have PETA who may well have something to say on this...
