A teenager has successfully challenged a court bid forcing her to wear an electronic ankle tag as she said it would not look right with a skirt.

I agree!
If she is found guilty, she should be made to wear the tag once she's been fined, as I doubt that she'll get any prison sentence.

I can see blokes starting a huge fashion in kilts soon - they won't have to be tagged then either.
It certainly makes a joke of the judicial system - who was the lame-brained magistrate that came up with that one? Hope the police/CPS now go back to a higher court to get the magistrate overruled.

Even I think this is a bit peculiar What's missing from this story though, is whether the JPs put any other measures in place to ensure observance of the curfew.

Re: don't want a Electronic Tag wear a dress.
Soon, you will have customised electronic tags and a range to choose from.
Officer: Which will it be......the nike one, the reebok, the adidas ?
Its meant to be a place of punishment, They shouldnt have a choice.

Re: don't want a Electronic Tag wear a dress.
Um - I read it as the prosecution wanted a tag as part of her bail conditions, the defence didn't, putting forward the rather odd argument about 'dress sense', the beak decided not to give her one. The reason is up to the magistrate, and he/she isn't going to tell us why breaching the bail conditions appears not to have incurred any punishment. Perhaps there are other defence arguments we haven't heard, such as really not being able to hear the doorbell while asleep at 2:35am. It's hard to be sure on the basis of this story.
The story itself is misleading by saying it's a 'court' bid, it's not, it was a *prosecution* bid, which isn't the same thing. It makes it sound like the court tried to tag her but she refused, which isn't the case.

Go to the "top level" of the forums ie http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/index.php? and select a forum that's appropriate to your thread.
On the left hand side, just down from the top, is a button marked "New thread, also just below that is the link for "Important guidelines during your use of Cable Forum" but everyone ignores that
(It's also a good idea to look at the right hand side of the menu bar at the top where you'll find the "search" facility so you can check if what you're asking has been done before )

Re: don't want a Electronic Tag wear a dress.
The ease with which some felons remove their tag renders the tag useless. Far better would be a subcutaneous implant similar to the chip injected into my dog. Placing this close to the carotid artery would persuade all but the suicidal from interfering with it. It also has the advantage that it doesn't matter what clothes you wear, you still end up with an effective tag. You could also incorporate a homing transmitter, which police could monitor to see where offenders are.
