You seem to come across as someone who would urge others to know all the facts before forming an opinion. Thus I'm encouraging you to do the same.

Or maybe if you hadn't dived in with your view and waited until he'd explained himself, we would be where we are now.

Basically, 'homophobia', in todays society, is mostly used to define the dislike of someones sexuality (and, more often than not, is only directed at gay men). As I see it, what is commonly referred to as 'homophobia' these days is actually a lot nearer to bog-standard sexism.

Hold that thought right there otherwise I'll be "getting my way"

Well, this is an active thread - are you expecting me to sit tight until PaulM returns, if he returns? PaulM weighed in with a post that demanded a response. He can refute points when he's online, but as people do seem to be acknowledging the common usage and understanding of the term homophobia (in the same way that I do), I am quite comfortable with my position, thanks very much. I do so enjoy your attempts to goad me though, so please do continue

Re: What is it about gay kisses
If I was going to goad you, you'd know about it (a bit like when you tried to goad me by asking if I thought Paul M was ignorant).
He's posted a view, you're formed an opinion on it without knowing the full facts. Who knows, you may even be right, perhaps he is intolerant towards gays.
But let's give him a chance to explain himself. If he chooses not to then go ahead, fill your boots.

Re: What is it about gay kisses
Russ, I'm not going to entertain you anymore. I stand by my original point which I personally feel has been vindicated by subsequent posts. You may disagree - fine by me - but if you want to keep attacking me, I suggest you do it by PM so that the rest of the thread doesn't have to watch on.

Re: What is it about gay kisses
I have no problem with people who find the act of gay sex distasteful - I don't think they are homophobic - there are sexual acts that a hetro couple take part in that I would also find distasteful.
The people I do have a problem with are the ones who want to deny gay couples the same rights as hetro couples.
Did anyone see the episode of wife swap on E4 where an american deep south hetro couple swapped with a gay couple? The first night the hetro man made the gay man move out into a hotel as he didn't want him in his house.

Re: What is it about gay kisses
Weird thing for me is genuine homosexual kisses (either gender) look ok. It is the "actors" doing it that looks obviously phony and slightly yukky.
