That is excellent shooting!
Of course had it been the Yanks they'd have done something real subtle like hit the boat with a missile.
This story reminds me of another piece of great shooting:
Gunnery Sgt. Carlos M. Hathcock was a US Marine Corps Master Sniper who was known to the Vietnamese as "White Feather".
He served in Vietnam and became famous for his skill. His longest kill recorded was from a distance of 2543 yards. To put it in perpective, that is nearly 1.5 miles away.
He was also a very brave man who saved the lives of a number of fellow marines when the vehicle he was riding on blew up in an ambush, pulling them from the vehicle, and suffering terrible burns himself.
