Idiot walks round town centre with replica gun
And is very, very lucky not to be on the receiving end of 50,000 volts or several grammes of lead.
http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.u...ed_by_officer/
The video is astounding, he is wandering about in the middle of the day casually swapping the gun between hands until the cops (unarmed!) arrive and, ahem, restrain him.
I thought anything that could possibly be mistaken for a gun had to in bright colours these days?

Re: Idiot walks round town centre with replica gun
Of course if he had been tazerd or shot it would have been the polices fault and well done the unarmed cops who stopped him they had no idea if the gun was real or fake .
What is disturbing is the amount of people who didn't notice or didn't care or thought it was nothing to do with them, and you'll forgive me for saying that i've seen drunken brawls reacted to more quickly than that man walking around with a gun(albeit a replica) for 5+ minutes (how long was he there before the cameras picked up on him)

That's because people don't care about anyone else but themselves these days or are scared of getting involved in case they get sued by some scummy lawyer.

Re: Idiot walks round town centre with replica gun
From his body language and the pace he was walking he looks like a threat.
I'd have just shot him anyway.

I bought a .177 Walther co2 air pistol that was black its only the bore that shows its not real and with a suppressor on it you do not know. I asked my gunsmith and he informed me it was perfectly legal. All the BB guns and Airsoft weapons are all blue ,red or yellow in parts

Re: Idiot walks round town centre with replica gun
They should have dropped some lead in him just for good measure.

Without saying the top one is the BB version.. How are people to spot the difference at at least 20ft away?
There are only a few differences between these two.
1) One is a BB gun and one is a deadly Firearm.
2) The BB version is mostly plastic apart from the trigger - The Real one is All Metal apart from the Trigger which is plastic.
3) The lettering on the BB gun has a white finish as opposed to the Carved finish of the real gun. (Real ones could easily have this done too)
These differences cannot and wont be noticed by members of the public and armed response officers from a distance unless the suspect actively fires it.

Re: Idiot walks round town centre with replica gun
Blimey,2 things amaze me about this. 1, the lack of reaction from the public & 2, it took the police 5 minutes + whatever time prior to the cctv that he was walking through town brandishing the gun.
He seemed to be walking with purpose, tazer or a plastic bullet would have been to kind for a pleb like that. Just imagine for one moment how many people he could have killed/injured if he was not in a fit state of mind & the gun was real.
To top it all a real urine poor sentence, non-custodial & a small contribution.... Beggars belief!

it's highly likely the CCTV controller alerted the Police. Even then 5 minutes for a response and you think that's poor
Contrary to popular belief there isn't 20-30 cops sitting round a table playing cards and eating pies in every office. Getting two cars there within a few minutes with more appearing shortly thereafter is good going in my book.
What timescales do you think would have been realistically achievable?

I have no idea Derek, with all the cutbacks I suppose 5+ is good but it still seems a long time especially as he had a gun, IMO of course.
Kudos to the one who waded in with his stick tho, very large sacks all things considered.
