Totally shocked and surprised
I am totally surprised that no member has picked this item up from an article in today's Sunday Mirror.
An engineer called at a house in Farnborough from a sub contractor of VM and started sexually harassing the customer.
And all VM did was offered vouchers and half price Internet as an apology.
What is totally wrong is the fact that a major company such as VM offered this pathetic offer in the first place.
All companies have a duty of care to the customer and should have made every possible method of compensation to the customer for this outrageous behaviour by an employee, and that is what he was, even though a sub contractor.
VM are a company that dealt with it immediately, but they should have done more for the customer.
What a major problem is in today's world is that we allow contractors into our home, even with ID's, but we don't know what will happen do we.

Once again Arthur, thank you for the link to the relevant article. I'll do my best to find the story that you have pointed out and will be back asap.

Re: Totally shocked and surprised
I wonder if it was one of our members.
I imagine she called up to complain and the customer service person just come up with the offer?
is that the photo they took of her to go with the story for us to judge or something?
I might put it in the other thread for Carl.

Re: Totally shocked and surprised
Arthur, when we ask for a link, we generally mean a link on the web. After all, it's probably not practical for every member to go and buy a newspaper (or even just read one in the shop) just to find a particular story someone is referring to.

Re: Totally shocked and surprised
I know. I just meant if Arthur doesn't provide a link it's easier to use Google than to walk to the shop.

Re: Totally shocked and surprised
OK, it's about this woman who was allegedly harassed by an employee of a sub contractor for VM. If this proves to be a genuine case then I hope that he gets what he deserves. If someone propositioned my wife (aside from the fact that she would knock him out) I would be upset.

It is bad enough being sexually harassed,” she said. “But to then be offered a cut-price internet package to try to brush the whole thing under the carpet is even more insulting.
|
So what else does she think Virgin can do exactly ?
The guy resigned, so they could hardly fire him, anything else is upto the police, not VM.

Is there even a remote chance that you might spell my name correctly Arthur? Jem, not Jen. It's a contraction of my real name.
