Gibraltar and Spain clash in fishing rights dispute

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18200678

Quote:
Tensions over fishing rights around the British territory of Gibraltar have been raised, following an incident involving Gibraltarian police boats and British Royal Navy, and Spanish police.
It comes after several days of dispute in which Spanish police escorted Spanish fishing boats near the area.
The Gibraltar government says fishing with large nets there is illegal because of an environmental law.
Amazing how a financial meltdown reinforces old tensions and arguments.

Sadly, it's entirely predictable and there's more to come I believe. Nothing like a dose of austerity to fire up old tensions, rivalries and resentments whether territorial or otherwise. Of course some people believe this sort of thing can't spiral out of control and lead to larger scale troubles but they're not usually students of history...

Indeed worry if eurozone collapses i am sure this prevented further wars due to bit solidarity.

I sadly feeling this bigger move by the money men to cause of social cleansing by sparking tentions/wounds create a war. Too many working class living longer so war to kill few off is there way social cleansing.

Its happened in the past you would be naive not to think it cant happen again.

I read book once where there was war due to jobs being lost extreme high unemployment. I think author right this maybe the war before oil runs out. sure read spain unemployment 50% or something.

That serious problem mechanism, maximising profits by job out sourcing number factors caused the level unemployment to hit breaking point. Now in limbo business wont create jobs nobody spending. Nobody spending due to wages being strangled. It needs common sense to break the mould give better wages so they spend it. Freeze land/property prices with aim at some point slowly reduce its value.

Councils build council homes to then bring private rental back to reality. Things can change if we all work together.

My fear this while governments, money men panick running arround like headless chickens it will get worse.

Countries when they become depserate, when that happens sadly desperate acts happen.

I fear spain may do something they may regret.

Re: Gibraltar and Spain clash in fishing rights dispute

If the Spanish are so keen to take back Gibralter as sovereign territory perhaps they'd like to give back Ceuta and Melila to the Moroccans as they are clearly not part of Spain.

Quote:
Madrid says the urban enclaves are integral parts of Spain. They are surrounded by Morocco, which views the Spanish presence as anachronistic and claims sovereignty.
Pot and kettle methinks.
