Surely government has to reverse its decision. Its not looking good this surely going to cripple goods prices which will escelate inflation.
Osbourne got any sense he will tell the house commons the planned increase now been cancelled.

That WAS a labour saying but seems to sit better with the Tories now.

I would be not shocked to see it at £1.60 before long.
Its a shame alternatives like hybrids way off the rocker in prices. Especially with low budgets.

Gosh, am I glad we run an older but small economical car. Even then I think we'll have to keep the mileage down to essentials to be able to afford the odd trips out and the runs down to Cornwall. At least I'm able to do the servicing and maintenance myself. One less expense to worry about.
Crazy fuel prices both for cars and domestically together with tax rises and food inflation running rampant and the need to pay back credit. And they wonder why the consumer isn't spending on the high street or saving. We're SKINT!

Indeed this could just cause heap more problems.
My Citymatic though very economic so not so bad. Wonder how many trapped in bigger cars unable to downsize due to tightening belts.
Notice stoneacre brought back scrapage to boost sales. That after the 0% apr £1 deposit.
This wont do the car industry any help whats so ever you just think the oil industries slitting there throats.
How many fearing the return of fuel strikes they surely must be close.
Now cynic in me thinks oil industry expected budget to drop Fuel Duty this was planned way getting more money but osbourne put it up from august 1st.

Re: Petrol hits whopping 140.20 unleaded before 3p increase in august1st
Many people have to run their own car for essential business journeys. That isn't getting too and from the place of work, but instead having to be mobile to actually do the job. For a long while the maximum rate of expenses allowed by the taxman has been 40p, before any extra has to be declared as income. That may seem adequate but consider that has to cover not only fuel, servicing, depreciation, a business class insurance policy .... I see no indication this rate is being reviewed meaning many of us are at risk of having to pay somebody for the privilege of doing our job.

Just about to replace my car with an even more uneconomical one, happy days.
£1.55 for a litre of super at Norton Canes last week (motorway prices but by no means the most expensive). This gets me to Northwood and home on the return journey with fumes remaining.

So many suckered into buying diesels, watch out LPG users you'll be next!
The canny don't fall for the new car economy myths, the figures are fiction at it's worst. So many fall for it and mortgage their future for the satnavs and cup holders, you fools!

Well I drive a diesel 10 miles up the motorway, when I booted it 70+ my fuel lasted 2 weeks, sticking to 60 I can go 3 weeks.
My ecomony is abot 47mpg a lot better than my old petrol.

Last time I did a seroius check of the fuel consumption on the GTi was a mixed driving trip from the West country to tour round Scotland and back again. 48.5MPg over 3,000 miles.
Obviously if I use the power it'll be a lot less than that but for a petrol moke not bad.
