Re: Innocent man freed after police 'fake licence' error
Prudent and right are not necessarily the same thing. If he is being investigated for something serious (enough), and there is a sufficient case against him, he can be held pending the investigation. What appears to be (or may have been; we're all speculating) the case here is that he's been detained on something that should have been an open and shut case, which for some reason has been protracted. What I'm saying is that if this case has been willfully protracted then it's wrong, as he should have been detained using the proper means the police/CPS have at their disposal. What they've (apparently) done may be prudent, but that doesn't make it right in my opinion. They have the powers (and lack thereof) they have for a reason, one of them being that people can't be detained willy-nilly.

i agree with you Damien,i was just pointing out that ,that may have been the reason ,as you say ,if it was they went about it in the wrong way ,and i believe that there is a system in place for asylum seekers who they think may abscond even those who have been an asylum seeker for 8 yrs ,which in itself raises a barrage of questions

Fair enough, except that I'm not Damien. Having said that, there's worse 'insults'
