Disabled people face unlimited unpaid work or cuts in benefit
http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/20...=FBCNETTXT9038
Quote:
|
Some long-term sick and disabled people face being forced to work unpaid for an unlimited amount of time or have their benefits cut under plans being drawn up by the Department for Work and Pensions.
|
Quote:
|
The policy could mean that those on employment and support allowance who have been placed in the work-related activity group (Wrag) could be compelled to undertake work experience for charities, public bodies and high-street retailers. The Wrag group includes those who have been diagnosed with terminal cancer but have more than six months to live; accident and stroke victims; and some of those with mental health issues.
|
Quote:
In official notes from a meeting on 1 December last year, DWP advisers revealed they were not intending to put a time limit on the work experience placements.
When asked at the meeting if there was a maximum duration to the placements, the reply was: "There are no plans to introduce a maximum time limit."

Re: Disabled people face unlimited unpaid work or cuts in benefit
I am seeing this now as a joke as i think its getting to the ppoint where they will say anything to pacify those who think all on benifits disabled or not are scrongers but the idea that there is work out there and or that work wont be taking away jobs from others is slowly coming apart as with the jobs for prisoners which seems to be kicking up quite a bit of fuss with those looking for jobs and those who are doing those jobs now.
lets hope it all crashes down before the country does in trying to fix this mess

Re: Disabled people face unlimited unpaid work or cuts in benefit
Welcome back to slavery.
Its all political maggy, I have recently read that child tax credit is actually going up. They just spending the money in areas to maximise votes. Disabled people dont sway elections.
Will we find this story in the daily mail, the sun or even the bbc?
For those who dare I say it may even support this slavery, bear in mind high street retailers and public bodies have been listed which will mean lost jobs. This might go some way to explaining how councils are going to achieve 10% cuts.
comment of the news page.

I see very little difference between 21st Century England and Nazi Germany in the 1930's. Even the scapegoating of weaker members of society is no different.

i work with student with learning difficulties and have a close friend who works at the Job centre. i know full well the staff their are untrained to make these kind of decisions. He explained to me how they had a staff training day on "autism", now I've been working with autistic students for years and still learn something new everyday whereas they believe 1 day of staff training will suffice, shame

Re: Disabled people face unlimited unpaid work or cuts in benefit
Having tried to get unpaid work so i could retain some current job skills i have news for this stupid government THEY STILL DON'T WANT US. Really getting sick of it now it is just one thing after another as if most of us didn't feel enough of a burden before this recent anti benefit offensive. Do us all a favour and cut the crap cameron stop trying to hide your complete contempt and disdain for the sick and disabled and just rebuild the work houses at least we would all know where we stand.

Re: Disabled people face unlimited unpaid work or cuts in benefit
Could we technically as a nation have Dave sectioned under the mental health act?
not so much for being a danger to himself, but for being a danger to others. (millions of them)
even it's just long enough for him to be assessed?

I'm slightly to the right of Genghis Khan and even I think it's a step too far

haha too right he gone completely mental wonder how many we will see crawl out support this motion.
Its disgraceful charity work is one thing but never forced it should be voluntary. Charities dont like forced labour they rather prefer people who want to help.
Should all MPS lose there entitlements now work for JSA/disabled plus strict expenses. Again like said on another thread how many who support these motions are willing to give up there wage for being payed equivalent of slave wages.
Preach what they spew up I say.
Who next on the hit list young/disabled I just wonder how low they can stoop. Its all about maximising profits for the rich again.
If these jobs EXIST they should be on fair wage ie what the equivilent paid job pays.
Maybe new poster logo for nex lelection.
CONservative Party - where slavery pays.
This got to be most disgraceful government I decided he trying to put us back into feudal age.

Sadly soup kitchens already exists here I know relation who helps prepare the food. Has seen increase in numbers.
Workhouses are those companies who willing to be the nasty forground to take on the slavery labour.
If firms lose custom then thats when they will change there ways. Sainsbury at home lost no end customers. Problem is tesco increased as it was not known then they took them.
I wonder if its upto local stores managers. I will find out if they taking them on if they do I will walk make formal complaint.
Those who dont support it make you places you shop aware you wont shop if they did take disabled on or JSA.

Yes l am afraid there are plenty of soup kitchens as my sister works for the Salvation army and she often tells many stories about people being on the street and who are literally starving.

Waiting for email back of tesco at the moment.
The threat is I wont shop with them again if they using slave labour.

From the Guardian 3.2.12:
The Guardian has found that Tesco, Sainsbury's, Argos, Asda, Maplin, TK Maxx, Matalan, Primark, Holland & Barrett, Boots, McDonald's, Burger King and the Arcadia group of clothes stores, owned by the billionaire Sir Philip Green, have all taken staff via "work-for-your-benefits" programmes.

Nice one just done the same your quote of companies I am sure gardian missed poundland on there.
I think with research we could keep a blacklist companies but we need to split those who JSA those more scummy recruiting the forcing Disabled for benefits.
Despite governments plans I dear say Disabled idea might be one too far for companies to employ. Disabled slavery might be step too far as its repulsive.
My thoughts is why is europe not intervining banning it under human rights.
Maybe they should be contacted.
