Read the article, usually from outside the bus not inside...

Re: I despair...
"stoning buses" is quite a common ocurance up here ,the kids do it with vans and lorries as well ,not to mention fire engines and ambulances .I've got a few dents in the side of my van as testament .Although this case is different in that the kids got onto the bus it does not surprise me in the least .The last buses late at night are the worst to get and regularly get taken off service if the police see loads of kids about especially in the summer months

Re: I despair...
They still entered from outside and brought the missiles with them. If anything an attack from outside could be more dangerous, because they couldn't be sure where the missiles were going to hit.

Whichever way they do it ,it's very scary and alarming .When they stoned my van i thought i had hit something and my wife was on a bus when a window went through a few seats from her

I've never seen a more stupid comment. It's OK they threw the missiles inside the bus because they could target them more accurately?

Indeed ,from the outside it's mostly shock as the glass shatters or the noise from the missile hitting the metal ,from the inside i could easily see passengers panicking and getting more seriously injured

Re: I despair...
IMO, The problem is that we now have entire families where most of the family has never worked. People who because they have never had to work for something, don't the value of taking pride. People who (to use a phrase my mum used to use) know the price of everything, but the value of nothing.
We have entire generations of families whose parents have never disciplined them, and may not even know how to discipline effectively (it's more than merely smacking them). There are also a lot of kids whose parents don't really engage with them on any level, just plonking them in front of the console or TV.
A good parent will teach their kids a good set of rules to live by. In the absence of a good parent, I suspect those kids learn their rules from their friends, and to some extent from video games.
I don't mean to turn this into a "Video Games are responsible for evil" argument, as I believe games are only part of the problem. Not the whole problem.
Think about it. We seem to have seen a rise in events like this in the last ten years or so. The same last ten years that has seen the rise of games (like the GTA series) where random acts of violence against innocent people are encouraged.
That's not to defend these acts. There is no defence, they are despicable, whatever the reason.
What's the answer? TBH, I don't know. Probably a combination of education (parenting skills classes at least) and punishment.

Not that's it OK, just as I said, less dangerous. I also pointed out that it is a common occurrence in general. The OP doesn't mention any 'concern' about the attack taking place inside the bus. Which direction would you want a concrete block to be going, towards or away from you? There are too many people around here who suffer from a tendency to "wilfully to misunderstand".

Forget education, it won't work. forget anything to do with parents, that won't work.
punishment. it's the price to pay. and if we don't charge them then they'll just do it all the more.
just like they still are.
is Dave the man to do it?
No.
as you were then.

and jumping up down screaming "it's the governments fault" isn't the answer either .This sort of behaviour has much less to do with the government than it has to do correct parenting and the willingness of society to act on these people .Dave and chums are not solely responsible for the actions of some members of society and should not be charged with putting things right on their own while society sits back and moans .
